- Just Another Mistake Chapter 1 I was only 2 years old when I lost my parents. They didn’t die or anything like that. They just gave me away. I don’t know what I had done to make them dislike me so much. They had 3 other kids and out of all of them they gave me away. I now live with my dad’s brother... my uncle Jacob. He’s a very mean and nasty 40 year old man. Every other week he brings a new girl home. Last week he brought a 15 year old girl. Just 3 years younger than me. They give him what he wants and then he just lets them go as if he’s a taxi man. Today is supposed to be a special day. It's my 18th Birthday. It's already 8:00pm and I still don't think it's exciting. Today is Sunday and nobody said happy birthday to me. They can't because I am always locked up in my house. But if they did see me they wouldn't say happy birthday anyways. The way my uncle Jacob said happy birthday to me was awful. He grabbed his belt while I was asleep in the morning and hit my face with it 18 times. Nothing unusual. I never get the guts to ask him…why? Why did my parents sale me to him as if I was a toy? But today, right after he got back from his friend’s house, I decided it was time. “Hi...Can I ask you a question?” I asked as he stumbled through the front door. He was drunk. And when he’s drunk it’s not a good idea to bother him. “You just asked one you little wh.ore!” he yelled at me as he dropped a beer to the floor. “Why did my parents give me away to you?” I asked as I felt regret fill my body. Jacob laid his dark brown eyes on me in a way that could’ve killed me in less than a second if they were bullets. He took a few steps toward me. So close that I could smell his usual smell…beer and sweat. “Do you really wanna know?” “Yes” a plain yes is all I really needed to answer. “Fine. Your parents gave you to me because they only wanted 3 kids and you came to their lives as a mistake. They didn’t want you. They decided to give you to me because I live about 3 states away from them…and that way you would be far away from them.” His answer was kind of what I expected. But it still hurt. He walked out of the living room (where we were standing) and headed toward the kitchen. I followed him and asked him “Did you want me?”. He stared at me and all of a sudden started laughing. I looked at him confused. What was so funny? “I didn’t want you! I just excepted you because the money they offered me was a lot! It’s about twice my whole life savings!” he answered as he continued to laugh. I tried to hold back tears. But I couldn’t help it. I ran to my room across the hall from the living room. I jumped on my bed and lay down on it. Crying. I felt like nobody wanted me in this world. I was a mistake. At school everybody treated me like sh.t. What did I do wrong? The only friends I had were Zoey and Noah. I had known Zoey since Kindergarten. She has pink hair with purple highlights and always knows how to defend herself. Because she gets bullied too. I get bullied because I’m worthless and she gets bullied because she’s fat. How cruel right? Noah has been my friend since my first year in high school. He always knows how to cheer me up. His blue crystal eyes make me feel safe. He gets bullied because he’s gay. But he tries to ignore it. The both of them know how to ignore all the rude comments but I…I am as weak as an old piece of branch. I have been cutting since I was 12 years old. I have had millions of suicide thoughts but I know that suicide is not the answer. I continued to fall deep in my thoughts and memories but soon enough I was fast asleep. *Hey Beautiful! Well this is the first ever story I am adding on Witty and I'm hoping it's not my last because I love writing! Sorry I didn't write a prologue but it's just I wanted to go ahead and start with chapter 1. I DO notify by the way. Sorry if it's not that good but I will try to make it better! If it wasn't for me, wanting to play basketball with her, she wouldn't be going through this. It was already four days, and she hasn't woken up. On the fifth day, I saw her eyes gently open. "Kelsey?" I called. She wasn't quite awake yet. Suddenly, doctors came rushing in, telling me I had to wait outside. I did, for a few hours. One of the doctors finally came out saying, "I understand that you're Kelsey's friend, Aaron?" "Yes," I whispered. He bit his lip. "She woke up, she's fine, but I'm afraid she has long term memory loss." "Are you serious?" I almost shouted. "I'm afraid so." I didn't meet his gaze. I couldn't. I wasn't going to say anything, so he spoke again. "You can go see her if you want, but she doesn't remember anything, not even her mom." I walked in, trembling in horror. I saw her. She looked helpless as she slept. I waited a few hours, until I saw her eyes opening gently again. I expected doctors to run in, rushing me out. Instead, she looked me straight in the eyes, and whispered, "I don't know you, but I like your eyes."
