Chapter 24
Scarlett's POV
I woke up in a room I didn't recognize. I couldn't remember anything. A man walked in that I assumed was the doctor since he started checking me over. Everything seemed normal until he grabbed my throat. "Remember me?" he said as he took of the wig he had been wearing. I instantly did. I could never forget his cold dark eyes. The eyes of the boy who had tried to burn me alive. "How did you find me?" I choked out. "Your little friend Jason? We met him jail. Turns out he was hospitilized today, too. He found out your room number. Guess what? He's right down the hall," he sneered at me. I couldn't breath. I was convinced I was going to die here and now when a thought came into my head. "Can we go see him?" I wheezed. He looked at me skeptically, so I continued, "You can hold my wrists or whatever the whole time. I won't run, I promise. After that, you can do whatever you want to me." A smirk grew on his hideous face as he let go of my neck but grabbed my wrists and pulled my out of bed. He took my down the hall, and I could tell he was avoiding the waiting room. Ryker must be there. I coughed a little to clear my throat as best I could. I was gonna need all my strength. "Ryker!" I started screaming. "Ryker help me!" My attacker put his hand over my mouth, but it was too late. I could already hear Ryker's heavy footsteps running toward us. Next thing I knew, I was on the ground and there were no hands on me. Ryker had saved my life again. It seemed like only seconds, but the police were there hauling my asailant off before I could think about what just happened. Ryker ran over to me, kneeling down next to me and pulling me into his arms. The tears started streaming down my face and I wrapped my arms around him and buried my head into his shoulder. He gently rubbed my back as I calmed myself. "This is the fourth time. I owe you my life, you've saved me so many times. I need to learn to take care of myself, I shouldn't always rely on you to save me," I said softly. "I will never stop saving your life. If you're in trouble, I'm gonna drop everything to help," he told me. I tooked into his eyes. They were a sparkling silver and I couldn't resist. I leaned in and kissed him. My savior.
