That's not entirely the whole reason. It's also because if they made gay marriage legal polygamists and other things like that would be doing the exact same thing that gays are doing right now. Now I'm not saying I'm for or against gay marriage, I'm just saying there's more to it.

I'm pretty sure she meant, that if we allow gay marriage, then we would have to allow people to have more than one spouse and other types of marriages. It would be chaotic.

it's illegal mainly because it was totally wrong years ago. because back then many people were very religious & by the law of nature "a man isn't supposed to sleep with another man" a lot of people believe that i just isn't natural. I mean when people are very strongly religious their argument is that God created us to naturally be able to reproduce & flow with the natural way of things. and in Leviticus 20:13 it clearly states "'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." So i think that the reason it is illegal today is because of tradition.
as for me, well i don't have a problem with it. i have many homosexual friends, i just wouldn't show an entirety of support for it.

50ish years ago, biracial couples were illegal because they thought it was gross & morally wrong. Look where we are now, though. My history teacher told us that in the next couple decades, it'll change, because it takes away one of the amendments. I forget which one.

First ammendment is freedom of religion, which is a huge argument for some people. If it says it's wrong in the bible, then it shouldn't matter to law because "Freedom of Religion" is basically "Serperation of church and state" so any argument over religion should be irrelivant, but unfortunatly there are a lot of religious people with power, money, and well just a lot of people with a lot of votes. Either way, it may not be for a long time but eventually it will become legal. It goes against people's rights and freedoms.
