um just want to say that a lot of people get killed in Australia and then the killer gets what like 6 years in jail and then they are sent free.

In America, on average 34 people are killed by guns every day. That's about 12410 a year. In Australia, we rarely get that 34 in a year because it's so much harder to get a gun one way or another. My issue is that guns being legal at all almost glorifies violence, and I am a pacifist by nature (meaning, I'm happiest when everything is at peace). Civil war, Bill of Rights, etc, aside, guns cause more violence than, say, a knife or broken bottle.

Okay, let me lay this out for you. That school WAS a gun-free zone. Look how well that worked out.
Here's the thing: Bad guys will be bad no matter what you do. If you make guns illegal, they'll buy them on the black market. The only thing that happens when guns are illegal, is people who are good cannot have them for protection. So this is the result: bad guys, guns. Good guys, none.
How is that logical?
I don't know how it works in Australia. But I know enough about America to know that making something illegal here doesn't stop the criminals from being criminals.
Guns are a right of Americans. People keep their families safe with them. Why take weapons from the side that plays it fair, while the other side is willing to break the rules anyway?
Also, guns are not the reason these people died. There was just recently a mass STABBING of 22 people in China. Shall we outlaw knives as well and saw our food with forks? Weapons do not kill people. Since when do they pick themselves up and shoot? Death by weapon is caused by human error or malice. Malice will find other ways to kill, always.
The only thing we can do is pray. Pray for America, the once-great country that's facing the end. A nation beginning to fall. They need God in their schools, in their lives, in their homes again. (And I'm saying this from an American friend's perspective, I don't think my country is better than the USA, or anything.) The answer is God, and it always has been.

Okay guys, I'm kind of getting offended by your comments about Australia like 'Sorry that our country isn't as good as yours'. I'm proud to be be Australian. But Australia isn't a perfect place and so isn't America. Occasionally in Australia we get a psychopath that just goes around killing innocent people. I think this quote goes to any country that doesn't have a gun-law. ReneeLisaaa was just saying her opinion and you have every right to say yours but it's getting on my nerve when some of yous are saying hateful things about Australia. I also agree with this quote 100%. Thank you, that is all.

making guns illegal won't do anything, it will just make people want them more.

We also tried to make alcohol illegal in the 1900's. Look what happened then, a huge profit was made from selling it. Outlawing guns will only make people want to rebel and use them in an even more dangerous way, just like the Prohibition did with alcohol. I'm sure every person in Australia lives happily and no one is killed (note the sarcasm). Killers can find other ways to harm people. Bottom line is, crazy people everywhere - no matter what race, no matter what country - need to be stopped. Why can't people like you understand that without placing the blame on an inanimate object?

Dear everyone that supports more gun control, think about this. Heroin, meth, weed, they're all illegal right? Does that stop people? Not at all. Even if guns are made illegal, if someone really wants one, they'll get one. Making it illegal won't do anything to stop it. Honestly if someone really wanted to go and shoot a bunch of people, seeing a sign that says "no guns allowed on the property" do you think he's just going to be like Swiper from Dora, say "oh man" and walk away? No. He's going to go in there, shoot whoever he wants, and then probably shoot himself. Guns don't murder people. People do.

EVERY IGNORANT PERSON STOPPPPPP. GUN CONTROL ISN'T GOING TO DO . We fought for the right to bear arms, don't try and say it needs to be taken away. Anything can be a weapon and can kill people. If someone stabbed you with a knife, are you going to demand that knives be illegal? No. Guns are fine, Idiots like him are the ones that give them a bad reputation, and have ignorant people all over demanding guns be illegal.

keep your hunting rifles assault rifles need to go every single one of them you don't need an assault rifle to kill a deer you don't need an assault rifle to protect your home. Guns have no purpose other than to kill. You don't use a rifle to cut steak. You don't use a handgun to light a campfire. Guns are made to kill. That is literally the only reason they exist. And the reason they shouldn't be so readily available. less guns = less killing it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out

less guns = less killing? it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that's incorrect. Just because you'd supposedly ban assault rifles doesn't mean less people would die. There would be a black market for them, which would make things much worse. Gun control isn't the issue in this, it's the idiotic people behind them. 99% of the people who have guns know how to use them responsibly.

it's too easy to get guns in america. In australia you need a special license and a mental health check. i know it's your constitutional right an whatever but if it's hard to get guns, fewer people will have them and things like this won't happen as often.i think another contributing factor is the fact that the government wants to be politically correct and not lock up people who are mentally disturbed. But the majority of people who commit these horrific acts have some sort of mental instability. Some people are only able to function if they are locked up. But the government seems to think that this 'dehumanizes' them and 'makes it seem like there's something wrong with them'. BUT THERE IS. idk that might just be me and my country though

my parents worked in a mental institute for 20 years, they've seen them all. the idiots that go shooting up schools are the ones that you can't tell there's something wrong with them. You think they're normal. Prohibition on guns will go the same as it did on alcohol in the 1900's; The complete opposite of the intention. Americans need a gun permit as well, and they check criminal records most often. It's complete idiocy when people think gun laws are going to do something, it's not, and they have other uses to the majority of the population.

we have strict gun regulation in australia, and how many times do you hear about shootings over here? the lack of regulation in the US leads to shootings being a regular occurance. Not to mention the everyday shootings that go unheard. I dont understand why you're so passionate about keeping guns. they only lead to injury
reply 0

never hear about them because I live in America. Everyday people get killed in car accidents, those are regular occurences too. They only lead to injury as well, but we still have cars. Americans fought for the right to bear arms. Our armed forces need weapons, banning them to the public would give the core a higher power ranking among civilians, and guns are not just for killing. They're for recreational use as well, because most people know how to handle them. It's the crazy one behind them that screws everything up

I took offence to this. Like it's America's fault. When our country was fighting for independence, we needed to be able to form malitias. The Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights says, "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." That's not going to change.

Thanks for insulting america and making us look like we're ignorant. do you really think we enjoy childeren dying and wantd that to happen...like wtf thats so rude of you, it wasn't the gun it was the person holding it, dont blam america for something one sick crazy disgusting person did

First of all, a licence doesn't prove that you're mentally stable. Take a second, and let that sink in. Secondly, I'm not saying that the world would be peaches and roses if guns were illegal. I said that it would reduce tragic events. And it would. I honestly can live without owning a gun if it could save a couple of lives.

I agree with this. People say "It's not the guns, it's the people behind it.", but if this guy didn't have a gun, what was he going to do, run in with a knife and stab 27 individual people? Even if a few were stabbed, someone would step in and do something before 27 people were dead. America needs to fix its gun laws, and maybe then innocent children won't die. In Australia, guns are illegal and as a result of this you don't see headlines saying "27 dead at school n Sydney!", do you?! Get a grip, America.
