Chapter 15:

I slipped into the quiet house, but my Aunt was watching TV. She frowned,
"Did something happen?"
"Yeah."
She motioned for me to come over and I told her how Hunter's dad had hit him. She gasped and told me that if he ever needed a safe place to stay he could come to our house. I was about to ascend the stairs when there was a knock at the door. I glanced at my Aunt and she rose, walking to her room. She nodded as I walked to the door. I opened to see Hunter. He looked like he had been hit by a bus. I told him to come in and he fell into my arms.
"Hunter, are you okay, what happened?"
He was crying into my shoulder,
"A-after you left h-he hit me a-again.I c-came here. I didn't k-know where e-else to go."
I felt tears in my eyes as I helped him to my room. I helped him to my bed,
"Where did he hit you?"
Hunter motioned to his stomach and I lifted his shirt, there was already a bruise forming.
"I'll be right back."
"No. No don't leave me. I'm.I'm afraid."
I stared into his swollen blue eyes and nodded my head.
"Come, come lay with me please."
I did as he asked. His arm wrapped around me pulling me closer. We layed in silence. Hunter's breathing slowed until I thought he was asleep, until he spoke,
"Aries?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you too."
My heart skipped a beat and I place my hand in his, squeezing it gently. I leaned towards him and kissed him. I felt him smile and I smiled too, pulling away. 
"Aries?"
"Hmm?"
He was silent from pain but managed to speak,
"I got you something. It's. It's in my hand."
I glanced towards his hands clenched shut, he opened his hand and there lay a beautiful ring.
"It's a promise ring, to promise you my love. I was, I was going to give it to you, but..Yeah."
I smiled and kissed him again,
"I love it Hunter."
He smiled and spoke again,
"I love you Aries."
My hand tightened on his,
"I love you more."
We were both on the edge of sleep but the last thing I heard was Hunter's soothing voice,
"Impossible."
"Impossible what?"
I mumbled through my sleep,
"You could never love me more."
"More than what?"
He was silent but whispered his response,
"More than I love you."
And we both fell asleep.
