“Woah,
where are you going? If you leave, Zach is going to hate
me,” Blaze said as I picked up my bag.
“This has nothing to do with
you,” I said as I walked past him. “Tell
Zach-”
“Tell me what?” I heard
Zach ask from the door.
“I need to go, my mum called
and said... um, that my dads at home,” I gulped.
“Are you sure you want to
go?” he asked, walking towards me.
“Yeah, I can't just leave
her.” I pecked Zach on the lips. “Bye, Bye
Blaze.”
“Bye,” I heard him
mutter.
“I'll walk you to your
car.”
“You're my teacher
remember, I'll text you later.” I walked to my car and
rushed home. My mum shouldn't have to go through this
alone.
Walking into the house, I was nervous, my palms were sweating and
my heart beating rapidly. I hadn't seen my so called father
in three years. I don't think anything could have prepared me
for meeting my father once again. I guess it was better this way,
this way I didn't need to over think all the possible
outcomes.
My dad looked the same, he didn't look as if he had aged, he
looked just as I remembered.
“Logan...” he murmured.
This moment was surreal.
“What are you doing
here?” I asked.
“I just wanted to speak to you
and your mother. I owe you both an explanation.”
“Yeah well you're three
years late,” I told him. I had no idea where my new found
confidence had came from but I was going to us it to my
advantage.
“I know,” he sighed.
“And I am so sorry. I want you in my life, you're my
daughter.”
“You lost the right to call me
that when you walked away.” My mum put her hand on my
shoulder and smiled.
“Robby, why don't you go
and take a seat in the lounge room. Logan and I will be in there
in just a second.” My dad nodded walked to the lounge
room.
“Logan, why are you acting
this way?” she hissed.
“Why aren't you mad? He
can't just waltz in here and think everything's going to
go back to how it is. He abandoned us!” I
exclaimed.
“I know, baby girl this is the
right thing. I know he left us but hes trying to make things
better again. You need a male figure in your
life.”
“I don't want him in my
life,” I told her.
“Please, for me?” My mum
begged. I nodded, regretfully and walked into the lounge room
where my dad was sitting on the single couch.
“Logan... I am so sorry.
Leaving you and your mum was the worse thing I have ever done. I
want to be in your life.” I nodded, not knowing what to
say. After my dad and I spoke for a while about why he had left
and his new wife, Vanessa and her children, he asked,
“Would you like to meet them?”
I looked at my mum and she smiled, this is for you mum.
“Yes, I would love
to,” I lied even though in all truth, the thought scared
me.
Me: yes Brodie, of course i'll go to bed with you.
