Zac Efron did sing in the other two High School Musicals and in Hairspray, but in the first one Drew Seely had already been cast as Troy and all the songs had already been recorded but when they found Zac they thought he was perfect for the role so in the first one they just had Zac use Drew's previously recorded songs.
