Okay I understand your point, but the only way to overcome social anxiety is to try and get better at being social. If you just never talk to anyone, how would that ever help? You HAVE to talk to people you don't know or aren't comfortable talking to. It is completely inevitable, unless you wish to become a recluse. I get that having someone just get up and start talking in front of a class of 20+ isn't exactly the best way to start overcoming something like that, but you must understand that you WILL have to learn to deal with it sooner or later so why not just learn to be more comfortable with public speaking while you're in highschool and/or middleschool, the years that matter the least with what people think because no one cares 20 years later. There is really no other way to overcome it besides practicing and personally I find highschool the perfect spot. Its taken a lot to get comfortable talking to people I don't know and to work with people I'm unfamiliar with, and I still suck at it, but all I can do is practice. Really, no one and nothing else can make you overcome social anxiety besides you.

Agreed. I have had social anxiety for years, I've had to go to councilling about it, but I have been doing some public speaking at school and it does help a lot.
