Keep Holding On
Chapter One
Part One
And I know
we'll make it through, we'll make it
through...
Sophie and I got up and both took showers. By
the time I had finished blow-drying my hair and throwing a snap
back on it the doorbell rang.
“Niall!” Sophie shouted, running down the stairs and
to the door as I slowly followed her.
“Hey sista!” Niall exclaimed, engulfing Sophie into a
hug. “So, you must be Casper,” he said after letting
Sophie go, looking at me.
I nodded and Sophie sighed.
“Come on, Casper,” she said. “Smile,
something?”
“No,” I said and Niall tilted his head in
confusion.
“Someone a little cranky this morning?” he asked,
chuckling and I just stood there, the same expression on my face
that’s been there for years now.
“Niall,” Sophie sighed. “Can I talk to you for
a minute?”
SOPHIE’S POV
When Niall came home, I was really excited to see my brother,
but, truth is, I called him here for Casper. I’ve known her
for two years now and she’s never shown any sign of
emotion. I’m sure she feels, she must feel, she just
doesn’t show it. Anyway, Niall can fix it, I know he can.
I’ve got faith in him, but he doesn’t understand
Casper’s condition.
“What’s with your friend?” he asked and I
sighed.
“She… um… it’s a long story,” I
said. “But you can fix her, I just know you can.”
“What’s wrong with her?” he asked. “I
want to know. The other guys will be here in an hour, so tell me
now.”
“Her family died when she was seven,” I said.
“They were hanged behind a city building in Boston, and she
was sick and left to die. Some guy found her, brought her to the
hospital, and then she started getting bounced around to
different foster homes all around the US. She got sent here, to
Ireland, two years ago and have been living with the
Harris’ since then.”
“The Harris’?” Niall asked.
“They’re terrible.”
“I know,” I responded to him. “She’s been
abused almost all her life. The only emotion of ever seen come
out of her is fear. She’s scared of big, loud crowds and
doesn’t like to be touched.”
“And why am I supposed to help her?” he asked.
“Because you can fix her,” I said, “I know you
can. Please, Niall, the story I told you is just the basics. She
has only gone into detail with me once and I know you can get
more out of her than I can.”
“Alright,” he said, “okay I’ll
help.”
I smiled and he shook his head.
“Don’t go smiling,” he said. “You know I
hate it when people are such downers.”
“She needs help,” I said and he nodded.
“I know,” he said, obviously not happy.
