This isn't my quote. I saw it somewhere, but I think everyone who cuts should do it.

Whenever you feel like cutting, don't pick up a razor. Pick up a pen. Draw a line, or write something on your arm. At the end of the day, you can look and see all the times you wanted to cut, but didn't. And you can feel good about it. 
I do it, and it helps a lot. It keeps me from doing something I'll probably regrety later.
