» JUST FRIENDS ♥
( ( ( chapter 28 ) ) )
“What??” Shane yelled back.
“Your father isn’t back yet, help me!!” she screamed in pain from downstairs.
Savannah and Shane both ran down as fast as they could to help Heather. “Call 9-1-1,” Savannah instructed Shane.
“That’s going to take too long,” Heather cried. “Savannah, can you drive?”
“I mean, I have my permit,” Savannah said.
“Perfect, let’s go,” Heather grabbed Shane’s hand and stood up and walked to the door.
Savannah was scared out of her mind. She’d just learned how to drive. She knew there was the possibility of her crashing but she didn’t have time to even worry about that. She grabbed the car keys off the living room table and helped her outside with Shane.
Shane sat in the back with Heather as she cried and squeezed his hand so hard he lost feeling in it. “Savannah, call my dad,” Shane said, knowing he couldn’t because he could barely get his words out with Heather crushing his hand. He handed her a phone that was already dialing the number.
“Uh, hi, Mr. Palmer?” Savannah asked into the phone. She’d never met him before but from what she’d heard from Shane, he was not a friendly man.
“Who’s this?” Mr. Palmer asked, annoyed it was a girl.
“This is Savannah Grant, Shane’s….friend,” Savannah didn’t know what to call herself. “I’m currently driving Heather to the hospital because she’s in labor.”
“What?? Why didn’t you wait for an ambulance??”
“Because-”
“AAAAUUUGGGHHHH!” Heather screamed.
“That’s why,” Savannah said.
“Don’t talk on the phone and drive, just get her there safely! I’ll meet you there,” he hung up.
~~~~~~~~~~
Shane and Savannah sat in the waiting room of the hospital for what felt like hours. Since they weren’t immediate family they couldn’t be in the room; only Mr. Palmer and Heather’s mom were allowed.
“You know, now would be a good time to get a r.ape evaluation done, just to be safe and make sure you’re okay,” Shane said.
“No, I don’t want to,” Savannah said.
“Sav, I just want to make sure you’re okay.”
“I’m fine,” she said. “Stop talking about it.”
“Alright,” Shane backed off. “I just think-”
“Shane,” Mr. Palmer stepped out. “Do you want to meet your new brother and sister?”
( ( ( chapter 30 ) ) )
The next day at school, Shane got congratulated by many people for the arrival of the twins. Nobody even knew that Shane was going to have a brother or sister, but that’s because Shane never told anyone about Heather. He was way too embarrassed, but there was no hiding her now- those babies didn’t come from nowhere.
But what Shane got even more of were confused questions from people about what he was doing with Savannah. They’d all heard of her drunk endeavor with Aaron, but no one knew the actual story, not that Shane would tell them what really happened. He just told them he still loved Savannah and was lucky she still wanted anything to do with him after the way he treated her.
The only people that talked to Savannah were other guys, hoping she’d get drunk with them and give it to them too. Ava had ignored her all day. As much as she wanted to talk to her best friend, she couldn’t. Friends don’t do that to each other.
Ava sat alone after school in the cafeteria, disgusted by Shane and Savannah. She didn’t need them. She’d find other people to hang out with. She knew how many guys wanted her, and that’s all she needed, right?
She was surprised when they both walked in the cafeteria after school. She thought they were doing this to rub in the fact that they were together and both screwed her over. Did they seriously think she was the kind of person who would take this?
“Wow, look how cute you are, Savannah. First you f..ck the guy that took advantage of the person you claimed was your best friend, and now you’re pretending like you’re an innocent saint who can’t do anything wrong. Good for you, honestly.”
“Ava, you have the wrong idea,” Shane said.
“I don’t,” Ava shook her head. “I know exactly what kind of person she is, she’s made it clear.”
“Just give her a chance to explain.”
“And what are you doing with her? You’re trying to pretend like everything is alright when you know you were hurt just as bad as I was Friday night. You let her lead you on time and time again and oh, look, you’re still letting her! You’re never going to learn. I get it, you’re ‘just friends,’ nothing is going on, you’re just really close. Like no, that’s bullsh..t. I don’t know why you still want anything to do with her, because I don’t.”
“Because I gave her a chance to explain and realized I had it all wrong. Ava please, just listen,” Shane said.
Ava looked at Savannah, with an emotionless expression. She really had no desire to hear what Savannah had to say, knowing it wouldn’t make a difference. “Are you going to say anything?” Ava asked after a moment of Savannah being silent. She wanted to say something, just not with all these people around.
Savannah led Ava over to the side of the cafeteria where no one could hear them. Shane could see from where he was standing Savannah letting the secret out as Ava’s face changed from a hard look to one that was beyond sad. Shane figured Savannah would cry when she told her that, but it was Ava who cried even more, apologizing and hugging her.
Savannah forgave her but Ava wouldn’t be able to forgive herself after she talked so much sh..t about her to everyone and not letting Savannah just explain from the beginning. They walked back over to Shane and all three were just relieved that everything was settled out.
“Honestly though Savannah, he can’t get away with this,” Ava said.
Note: yay sav and ava are friends again :)
( ( ( chapter 1 ) ) )
Savannah Grant looked up at Shane Palmer who had just asked her to be his girlfriend and gently held both of his hands, taking a step closer. She thought all she wanted this whole time was this exact moment, but something didn’t feel right. Her bracelets that covered the untold tragedies branding her wrists slid down. She aligned them back in place and remembered why they were there.
She looked to the left and saw her peers from school looking out the windows to see what was going on. She saw the eagerness all over their faces and remembered how just a week ago before they knew Shane liked her, they were ruthless to her, constantly making ‘jokes’ for the sole purpose of tearing her down. These people were not her friends.
She looked back up at Shane, who was clearly nervous that she still hadn’t answered yet. He looked so different for some reason. It wasn’t his chin strap that made him look different or his defined jaw line. His hazel eyes stared at her the same way they did last year when all of this started. He was just so different. They were both so different.
She smiled sadly and dropped his hands, and with tears in her eyes, shook her head no. The kids in the house were shocked that she turned him down, especially Savannah’s best friend, Ava Rivers. All of their hard work- for nothing.
Savannah didn’t know where to go. The party was basically over now even though it was relatively early. If she went back inside everything would just be awkward.
WOOOOOOOOOOOP!!
Red and blue lights came flashing down the street.
“Sh..t! Go!” kids filed out of the house. Savannah had already had five shots- she was clearly drunk and couldn’t run. Shane saw this and went with his first instincts. He picked her up and ran with her the opposite direction that everyone else was heading, running straight passed the cops.
“Are you crazy??” Savannah asked.
“It takes too long for them to turn around. They’re going to keep going straight after the kids who ran towards the woods,” Shane explained.
“Where are we even going?” Savannah asked.
“I’m taking you home,” Shane said. “Don’t worry, you’re safe with me.”
“I can’t go home like this! I was supposed to sleep over Ava’s house.”
“You can sleep over my house if you want,” Shane said, putting Savannah down. They’d gotten far enough from the house that they could be sure the cops wouldn’t find them. They’d reached the center of town and sat down at a table outside of a Starbucks.
“Thanks but I can’t do that,” Savannah said.
“Why not? My mom will be totally fine with it,” Shane said.
“Shane, I don’t want you getting the wrong idea-”
“Savannah, you don’t want to be my girlfriend, I get it. I can take rejection. Let me just try to do something nice for you to make up for everything. It’s honestly the least I could do,” he said.
“Why would you even want to? You don’t have to do anything for me.”
“Because I love you,” he admitted.
Note: hiiiiiiii so I hope you like the first chapter of the third and final story of the Second Best series.
Comment and tell me what you think :) Oh! Also, listen to this song and tell me this does not describe Shane's feelings towards Savannah perfectly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeYGT-4RX1I
» JUST FRIENDS ♥
( ( ( chapter 15 ) ) )
“Ohhhh sh..t!!!” Aaron Mason, Hunter Sullivan and Eli Thompson laughed as they walked out of the locker room and heard parts of Shane and Savannah’s conversation. “Palmer, she totally just friend zoned you!” Aaron laughed.
Shane shook his head at Savannah and tried to turn around to keep walking but she stopped him again. “Shane, I didn’t friend zone you! You even told me we were just friends,” she said.
“Let’s just talk about this later,” Shane said.
“No, no, don’t worry. Talk about it now,” Eli said. “We were leaving anyway.”
Shane rolled his eyes, annoyed. He wanted to talk about it later because he didn’t know how to respond. He knew he did tell her that, but he didn’t mean he had no feelings for her. The guys had left and Savannah was waiting on a response.
“You’re right, it’s all my fault. When I said we were just friends, I meant that we were really close and you could be comfortable around me and hook up with me and it…”
“Not mean anything?” Savannah finished for him, noticing he realized he was wrong.
“I mean, I guess for you it wouldn’t mean anything. But for me it does, just because I like you so much. But I know you don’t feel the same so I guess I can’t get angry if you’re getting with other guys,” he said. “I’m sorry.”
“No it’s not that it doesn’t mean anything, it does. I like you too but no offense, I don’t trust you. That’s why I thought this ‘just friends’ thing would work. Because I could hook up with you and pretend that everything is okay like it was last year but at the same time I could get with other guys and just have fun,” she said. “I wasn’t trying to hurt you.”
“I know you weren’t. I’m sorry I haven’t given you a reason to trust me again, but if what you said works for you then I respect that. I can’t tell you what you can do and if that makes you happy then I’m alright with it,” he lied.
“Really? Thank you for understanding,” she gave him a hug. Shane could see from behind her Tyler Gates and Blake Matthews coming out of the locker room. They noticed him and Tyler pelvic thrusted as Blake made the sign for ‘get it in.’
Shane ignored them and pulled up from the hug. “So you admit it though, you do kind of like me.”
She laughed and looked down embarrassed, “I hate you.”
“No you don’t,” he kissed her.
“Get it Shane!” Blake ruined the moment.
» JUST FRIENDS ♥
( ( ( chapter 11 ) ) )
The clink of Ava’s and Savannah’s shot glasses being toasted rang throughout the ears of everyone in the party. That, and the sound of 40 or 50 teenagers going wild in Scarlett’s house, downing beer after beer, gulping shot after shot, passing joint after joint.
Ava and Savannah promised each other they’d drink the same amount tonight- four shots just to get tipsy. Ava looked around the crowded basement, trying to find someone.
“I think Ryan’s playing pong right now with the soccer team,” Savannah told her. “He should probably be done soon.”
“Forget Ryan,” Ava laughed. “I’m looking for a guy for you! I’m trying to see who’s tall enough.”
Savannah knew Ava would be able to help her hook up with a really hot, popular guy because she had connections to everyone. She just wasn’t sure how Shane would take it. But if one thing was obvious, it was that he had to know they were just friends.
“Oh my God, got him!” Ava squealed. “Hunter Sullivan!”
“Stop,” Savannah’s jaw dropped. “You could get him to hook up with me?”
“Yes! We were friends when I went out with Blake and he’d always flirt with me and I’d just tease him because I could. He’s such a sweetheart,” Ava said.
“What are you going to say?” Savannah asked.
“Just come with me. If he turns you down, we’ll pretend we were drunk and didn’t know what we were doing,” Ava said. Savannah laughed and followed her over to the 6’3” muscular linebacker with dark curly hair and flirty green eyes.
“Hunter, hey!” Ava walked over to him, placing her small, delicate hand on the junior’s muscular arm.
“Hey! What’s good?” he asked and then redirected his attention to Savannah. “Savannah,” he nodded his head approvingly.
“You having a good time?” Ava flirted, taking the beer from his hand and taking a sip.
“Yeah, I’m having a great time,” he smiled and took his drink back. “Are you?”
“Yeah, but it would be better if I could find Ryan,” Ava laughed.
“Oh yeah, I heard you guys are hooking up now,” he said.
“From who? I’ve hooked up with him once!” Ava laughed at how fast rumors got spread about her. “But I mean, I just wish my best friend could be hooking up with someone, you know?”
“What about Palmer?” Hunter asked Savannah.
“No,” Savannah smiled. “He’s my best friend.”
“But see, Savannah’s really tall so I’m trying to find her a taller guy and you know who I was thinking?” Ava raised both eyebrows and smiled softly with her lips slightly pursed.
“I mean, I’m definitely down,” Hunter laughed. He took Savannah by the hand and started walking with her. Savannah turned over her shoulder and smiled to her friend, so unaware of the mess she’d just gotten herself into that would last for months.
Note: I'm only gonna post one for today, sorrry!!!
» JUST FRIENDS ♥
( ( ( chapter 4 ) ) )
“You can put this on if you want,” Shane handed her a plain gray t-shirt out of his drawer. “I’ll get out in just a second so you can get changed.”
But when Shane looked over to face Savannah who was standing by his bed she was already undressing herself. As much as Shane wanted to stay to watch, he knew he couldn’t take advantage of her when she was drunk.
“Or get changed now, I’ll turn around,” Shane laughed.
“They were making out when I walked in. That’s why I was laughing,” Savannah stood there in her bra and thong, taking the shirt from Shane.
“What?” Shane asked angrily. “This f..cking kid.” He started walking towards the door but Savannah stood in front of it so he couldn’t get out.
“No you can’t! She’ll get mad at me for telling you!”
“Savannah, just…put your clothes on so I can get out there,” Shane said.
“Shane, don’t!”
“I’m just going to tell my mom.”
“How many girls have you made out with Shane? You’ve done way more than that. And never once has your sister yelled at you or ratted you out.”
“I don’t want her going down a bad path or guys thinking she’s easy,” Shane said, trying his best not to look at Savannah. “I’ll be helping her, please just let me go out.”
“You can’t even look at me when you talk to me?” Savannah said.
“I want to, it wouldn’t be fair to, I’m trying to do the right thing, Sav!”
“Just don’t do anything Shane,” Savannah put the oversized t-shirt on. It reached just passed her a.ss. She moved passed the door and the second she did, he ran straight out of it towards Corinne’s room.
“Shane, no!” Savannah ran after him. She went to jump on his back but he turned around, causing her to jump straight onto him. He caught her, holding her by the a.ss with her legs on either side of him.
“Savannah, put pants on!” Shane whisper yelled at her but couldn’t help but die laughing at her stupidity.
He heard his mom coming up the stairs and quickly darted into Corinne’s room, still holding Savannah. Corinne looked at him with disgust but he quickly defended himself saying, “Mom was coming.”
Kyle took his arm off of Corinne the second Shane stepped into the room, and Shane noticed this. “So you’re dating my sister?”
“We’re just friends,” Kyle answered.
“Just friends? That’s what I say about all the girls I use,” Shane scoffed. “I hope that’s not what you’re planning to do.”
“No, not at all,” Kyle said.
“So you admit it though, you hooked up with her,” Shane said.
“What? Uh- I mean,” Kyle stammered.
“Shane, why do you have to do this?” Corinne asked.
“You’re lucky I don’t tell Mom,” Shane said.
“I could tell Mom Savannah’s half-naked. You are just lucky that I don’t,” Corinne said. “And you can put her down. She’s not a baby, you don’t have to hold her.”
“We’re going back to my room now anyway, I don’t want to be here,” Shane said.
“So then why are you in here?” Lindsay walked in.
“Savannah needed to borrow some pants,” Shane quickly lied.
