The Letter. THE CHANGE. The
Lie.
Chapter 85:
July 18
*Katia's POV*
*Couple hours later*
"Whoo!" Mia cheered as I
managed to throw another gutter ball.
After she came to pick me up I
stopped by Harry's and changed into a pair of jean shorts and
a light blue top. I didn't bother doing anything with my hair
before we left so it still was in a messy bun. At first Mia
wanted to go shopping but I didn't feel up to it so we
decided to go to the bowling alley. Needless to say, I was doing
horrible.
"You know it takes real talent
to do that five times in a game," I said jokingly. Every
single time the ball would head straight down the middle and then
veer off into the gutter at the last minute.
"Yeah you keep telling
yourself that," she said as she picked up a bright purple
bowling ball. As I took the final sip of my pop, she knocked down
half of the pins. She stuck her tongue out at me and I rolled my
eyes laughing.
She threw her final ball knocking
down the rest of the pins. "And yet another spare!" I
said, quiet loudly.
She laughed as our scores came up
on the electronic screen. Hanging my head in shame I started to
take my bowling shoes off.
"Sooo.... not to like ruin
this, but I'm surprised at how happy and upbeat you
are," Mia said.
I glanced up and saw her sitting
across from me untying her shoes. Turning my attention back to my
own footwear, I shrugged. "I just decided that I wasn't
going to mope around. I mean, why ruin the few precious weeks we
have left in London?"
I paused before continuing.
"Plus I wanted this break. I never understood when people
broke up with people and then five minutes later were moping
around and upset because they broke up."
"Yeah," Mia said.
We walked up to the counter, our
own shoes back on our feet. A guy around our age was standing
there working. He was about the same size as Louis but taller. He
had golden hair that was cut like Justin Bieber. He flashed us a
smile as we neared the counter.
"How did you do?" he
asked as we placed our shoes on the red plastic counter top. I
noticed his name was Adam on his name tag.
"Horrible," I muttered as
Mia laughed.
"Bowling is not your
game," Mia agreed, as she nodded her head.
Adam looked at me from the corner
of his eyes as he messed with the shoes in front of him. "I
could give you some pointers some time if you want."
"That's okay," I said
nervously, glancing over at Mia. She was trying to bite back a
laugh as she watched me try to get through this situation.
Turning his attention to Mia he
asked, "What about you? We could get a bite to eat
before."
"Thanks, but I'm in a
relationship," she said with a smile as she handed him the
amount we owed.
Taking the bills he started to
count out change. "How about you? Are you in a
relationship?"
"I.... It's
complicated," I finally said. He raised one eyebrow as he
handed Mia the change.
"That doesn't sound
promising."
I was about to reply with a snotty
comment when Mia stepped in. "Don't even try, you have
no chance. But thanks again!"
Mia finished with a preppy smile
and attitude, leaving the guy dumbfounded. I tried to contain my
laughter as we walked out the door. Once we were standing in
front of the car I couldn't help but double over in
laughter.
"Oh my God, I can't
believe you did that!"
"I had no choice! He was
hitting on you and I'm on Team Louis, not Team Bowling Alley
Guy!"
I opened the car door and sat down.
"And what if I'm Team Bowling Alley Guy? You just blew
my chances with him."
"GIrl please," she turned
and looked at me. "Louis is so much better than that guy and
you know it. You guys are like perfect for each other, what does
bowling alley guy have? Mad bowling skills?"
I just laughed as she started the
car. Mia was singing along to the radio and we drove away. I
started to drift into deep thought about Mia's comment about
Team Louis. Before I was completely lost in my own world I pulled
myself back; I wasn't going to dwell on it, I was going to
enjoy myself. And I started that by joining Mia and the mini
dance party she was having while driving.
