No guys lightning causes thunder, thunder is air rushing to fill the gap that the lighting just created. Fireworks, yes, but lightning and thunder because without lightning first there would be no thunder. The whole light travels faster than sound does play a part in the time gap, but lightning causes thunder (according to my Earth Science teacher at least)
