The girl with the glasses The girl lived everything in a blur.

The girl with the glasses

The girl lived everything in a blur. She was failing at her grades, and some of her friends had left her. She didn't like her life, not one bit.

She went to school that day, knowing it would be the same as always. Everything was boring. Being made fun of because she couldn't get an answer right, sitting alone at a lunch table. Pushing her hair over her face to hide from the outside world, because nobody would understand her. Pushing her hair over her face just made her feel safe, it was her confidence issue. Today was going to be like that, the same as every day.

She swatted bugs as she took a step onto the great, yellow bus. She could almost see “Prepare to hate life even more.” Written on the side where the windows were, and she acsepted it. Taking her regular seat, she stared out the window, preparing for what today was going to be.

The bus screetched to a stop at J.P. Middle School. She didn't even remember what the J.P. Stood for, or cared. Lifting her bag, she stepped off the bus, taking probably her 1000th step to more downfall.

Everything, like she had known, was the same. People were buzzing about the math competition, whoever won got an extra month off for summer. Which was pretty cool, but she would never win. Math was her worse subject. She dropped her bag off at her locker, not bothering to lock it. She didn't have anything worth taking, unless they wanted her homework, which she highly suspected nobody did. Then, the sound that rang in her ears, like on the bus that had “Prepare to hate life even more” written all over it, was the bell ringing.

She sat at the front of the class, her eyes were really bad. People say if you put your hair in your face too often, you'll get really bad eyes. Well, all she did was put her hair in her eyes, so her sight must be pretty bad. Even sitting at the front of the class didn't help, it was still a blur. She liked living in a blur, it made talking to people much easier, and she didn't have to see clearly what people's faces looked like when she made a fool out of herself. The blur made her feel calm, and safe.

In her thought, the teacher called her name.

What's the answer to this?” He had asked, pointing at the board. A huge lump came in her her throat, she couldn't see the board. And people would make fun of her if she said she couldn't see it, so would the teacher. Stuttering, she clutched the bottom of the chair.

“What's wrong with her?” People were saying.

“The answer is so easy!

Then, what she thought was a miracle, was the teacher's class phone wringing. He went over and answered it, nodding, one finger up in the “one minute” pose. Then, for the second time that day, he called her name.

“The office wants you,” he said, gesturing towards the door. She took her chance as quickly as she could, and dashed out of the room.
