I understand why he did it though...usually I'm pretty happy and I come on witty to read funny things and I see a quote about something sad/depressing and it makes me feel bad

Also, you can cheat the system by keeping self harm, suicide, etc. out of your tags for the most part that works. Or it should at least

Dude, don't leave. Your quotes can still be seen; just not on the newest/top quotes pages. People can still read what you say and there's no need to leave over this. I know it's annoying but Steve did it to help people who could end up getting triggered by seeing quotes about self-harm/suicide on the newest quotes page.

i know they can be, but its still messed up. For many people its where you can get help or be accepted. hes treating us differently like the rest of the world it just sucks.

I know what you mean, but this isn't a place for people to get help, it's a quote website, meant for funny and inspirational stuff, not things that could make people feel bad. There's other websites that are practically like Witty that people can use to rant freely, like Tumblr, Twitter, thequietplace.com/thedreamsroom/comfortspot , things like that. This website was just never intended to be used as a diary for some people. It sucks, but that's just the rules.

I agree yet disagree. Here we should be allowed to freely be ourselves yet I do get the whole triggering thing.

Oh my god. I'm just like you and I don't think we're being "put in the dark." Steve just doesn't want other people to be TRIGGERED. That's literally it. We're not being "treated differently", EVERYONE who posts those kind of quotes doesn't have them show up. It's not even a big deal, considering they still show up on profiles.

You obviously aren't 'just like us' because if you were then you'd understand that it's not fair to be put down and separated from everyone else like we are every other day in our own, personal lives. This site is about inspirational quotes, yes. But while some people may see certain quotes as depressing or 'triggering', others might find it as a source of comfort, inspiration and HELP. They let people know that others understand what they're going through, can explain things about themselves they didn't understand before, and just, knowing that there are other people out there that have gone through tough things too. Who is anyone to decide which types of quotes are inspirational. Maybe for me, seeing things about life always being good and happy trigger ME and make ME feel depressed. No one cares about those, yet they're allowed to be posted. The only reason ours aren't is because we're the minority. What happened to freedom of speech?

I'm a recovering self harmer who doesn't want to be triggered by quotes describing self harm and suicide in detail. But, thank you so much for assuming sh/t about me. I really, really appreciate that. People like you shouldn't be allowed on the Internet.
