I hate when I see people saying that we should go back to the time when curvier was considered to be more beautiful than being thin.
Not because I don't think that curvier, heavier women aren't beautiful. It's because people assume that there wasn't as much body shaming then. Society was the exact same way it is now, just in reverse. Do you know what they did to women who were thin back then? They'd shame them. There were ads saying that no man wanted a thin women and ads that said that advertised methods that would help a woman gain weight. Women who were thin were taught to be ashamed of their bodies.
Instead of going back to a time where curvier was more beautiful, why not become a time where every body is beautiful?

That's the thing though. Now, everyone has their own preferences. Some like skinny, some like curvy. Their is no one body type to really strive for I think, because everyone likes something different. It's better, nicer.

This guy in my calc class was saying how he didn't get why girls wanted a thigh gap because it wasn't Ben attractive and he went on for a few minutes before I finally stopped him and pointed out that I (one of the only two girls in the class) had a thigh gap. The other girl didn't even want a thigh gap. Listening to him try to backtrack and fix what he said was kind of funny.

I wasn't insulted by him. This quote just reminded me of that.
