i'm not trying to mean i am trying to explain that everyone is hear for a reason and you should be happy for being who you are.

and you can't just tell someone to stop cutting because they should be happy.

but you're saying that someone shouldn't be depressed. a lot of people have depression because it has been passed down through family, not because of environmental causes. depressed people have no hope, so they wouldn't believe that. i understand what you're saying, but it wouldn't work telling someone that.

don't feel bad about it! just try to learn more about mental illnesses before trying to give advice about it. :)

i mean like someone calls them fat or something and they become depressed because of what that person said

so yeah, that's environment caused. what about it?

can't you help those people or at least try?

of course you help those people, they're the same as those who developed it through family. they just got it a different way. you help anyone who needs it.

haha yeah. depression runs on both sides of my family, a lot of it because obesity runs on both sides of my family, but also because it's just chemically wired into the brain.. and then passed down. i know how it is and how depression works, so it really sucks and hurts when i read stuff like that. a lot of cases just involve it being carried down, so it sucks a lot more when people tell you to just 'get over it' or 'be more happy' and then list reasons as to why. depression in general you can't control unless you have anti depressants, and that in a lot of cases make people more suicidal.
