I'll protect you.
Michael, dropped his head and quietly toyed with his potatoes. My heart broke. He was actually intiminaded by this guy. I couldn't believe it. I was astonished by the thought that Michael could be intiminaded at all. The guy is like a boulder and his confidence is off the charts. But, I guess somethings aren't always as the seem.
"Well, Christopher, Michael and
I met during a beach party a couple weeks ago. We began talking
and we both realized that our dad's were not only in the
Marines, but they are best friends. Basically, we had a lot in
common, and now we're good friends." I
lied
My eyes scanned the room to ensure
that everyone who was present, bought my lie. Christopher raised
his eyebrow and took another sip of wine. He disgusted me. I
wanted to slap him across the face. Then, straighten his face and
slap him again.
"So Michael, tell us about your
self. I've seen Chris before, but I've never seen
you." My dad said. Michael swallowed his food and paid
atention to my dad.
"Well, what exactly did you
wish to know, Mr. Rosingburg?" Michael
asked
"Just about you in general,
which college you go to, where you work" My dad
suggested
I really wished my father had not
asked that question. He hit all of Michael's weak points.
Michael was silent for a moment. His brother however, was
enjoyoing Michael's struggle.
"Well, I did not go to any
college, I dropped out of highschool in tenth grade and I have
been working 2-3 jobs since then." Michael
answered
"Now come on son, how come you
dropped out of school?" My dad asked
Dad, you can stop
now
"Well, dad was away in Iraq at
the time and Chris was in college, so someone had to pay the
bills." Michael answered.
There you go Mike, stand up for your
self
"Well, that's too bad.
Where do you work kiddo?" Dad asked
"On weekeneds I''m a
bar tender at a local club. Some week days I work at a theme park
and ocasionally when I have time, I'm down at the community
elderly house. I give them rides to plays, concerts and
Church." Michael said
Gee, I didn't know he worked in
a elderely home. Thats actually very sweet.
"Well thats nice Michael. What
do you do in your free time?" My mom asked
"Freetime? what is this free
time you speak of?" Michael joked
Everyone began to laugh except
Christopher.
"I too have no knowledge of
free time. " He joined
"Yeah, except, your busy
deciding which car to drive and I'm busy deciding which
utility bill to pay." Michael laughed
Adriano glared at
Michael.
