Oblivion ties into the fear of death, hence the text in parentheses, but if you were talking about oblivion equating with nothingness, I referring to something slightly different.
Nah (well yes but) I meant that which is completely unobservable. Whatever is outside of the universe doesn't exist but it has to. The space between particles and the fact that atoms are gradually becoming more spread out; what would we be if that happened to us? Stuff like that.
