She missed being cuddled. She missed the way it felt to be gently

She missed being cuddled. She missed the way it felt to be gently touched and comforted. To have someone play with her hair, rub her back, sweetly kiss her forehead or her temple, to hold her tightly. She craved all of those things and more. But thinking about it only caused her to feel lonely. Because although she had a significant other who loved her with all his heart, he was too far away to abate her yearnings. So she tried to rid herself of longings. Tried to find contentment in the sound of her love's voice, in the knowledge that she'd see him in a few short months. But no matter what she did, she just couldn't stop the need, the way her skin craved the gentleness of her sweetheart's touch, the feel of his lips at her temple, the featherlight caress of his breath at her ear when he'd whisper something to her. Especially the way her entire being ached to be held, to be enveloped in his loving embrace. She could endure the cravings though, and she would until she could be in his arms again.
