High School
Oh yes, you're beginning high school. You're excited,
moving up into the "adult" part of school, where people
expect you to be responsible and respectful toward others. Where
you should be smart enough to stay out of trouble and do the right
things. Little did they know that you'd fall inot the wrong
crowd.
You're in 9th grade, you see a lot of new faces, new boys, new
girls, YOu want to make friends with new people, so you
walk and introduce yourself. You get to know eachother and find
out that you have a lot in common. You have the same lunch mod as
some of them, cool, you can talk more. Lunch time comes, you sit
togetgether at the tables, wjust before the bell rings to leave
lunch, you exchange numbers, text and get to know eachother even
more. Little did you know these people aren't really who they
were set out to be.
You go to thwir house for the time. You're staying the night
there. You smell cigarette smoke as soon as you walk in the house.
You walk in farther and see that everyone in the house smokes. Your
"friend" lights one up too. What do you do? You don't
want your friend to think that you're a good girl but you know
the problems that smoking can cause. The person you think is your
friend tries to force you into trying it just once. You still say
no. You pretend like you have to go to the bathroom, but you're
really going to call your mom and tell her you want to go home. She
asks you why and you say that you'll tell her when she picks
you up. She replys with "Alright, I'll be there in 20
minutes"
You walk out of the bathroom, to find everyone standing there
looking at you. They ask "You okay?"You reply with
"Yeah, I'm alright, I have to go home, family problems.
I'm sorry. My mom will be here in 20 minutes." Everyone
had a confused looked on their face but they say that it's
alright, they understand not to worry. They say "You're
welcome here anytime." That's the thing, she never wants
to come back. This is the environment she needs to be around.
Her mom finally arrived. but to her it felt like it took forever.
She said goodbye and told everyone it was nice meeting them. Her
heart was pounding. She told her mom what had happened, her mom
looked at her as she told Megan how proud she was of her little
girl. Wow, Megan hasn't heard that in awhile. On her way home
her mind was racing. What if Lindsey found out the REAL reason she
left? Would she tell the whole school that Megan was "too
chicken" to try smoking?
