America Quotes

I'm worried about the rate at which America seems to be spiraling out of control.

America usually spirals out of control well before lunchtime.
I live in South Yorkshire and the remains of hurricane Ophelia are hitting us. This is really bad the sky us yellow and the sun is red its mega windy outside. I think this is bad but England only had the remains. Poor AMERICA
I just realized something amazing.

I was always drawn to Steve Rogers as a character, his story spoke volumes to me and haven't realized why until this moment:
He was told that he wouldn't be good enough in the military.
I'm told that on the daily, yet that is my dream.
He goes in anyway and proves everyone wrong.
While he gets the Super Soldier Serum and becomes much stronger it symobolizes to me that pursuing your dreams makes you stronger.

So this blew my mind.
Captain America is not only a hero but an inspiration to me.

All trans people have a terrible struggle in this country and I hope that someday we have a country where everyone can feel proud and safe and beautiful.

It's a cry that echos through the years
The pain etched on each generation
I've been told it's history, that I am
A hundred and fifty years too late
To try and feel some type of way
But the hole in my heart wont seal up
It hurts to know that I've lost so much of
My family
My culture
My language
All because someone wanted gold
All because they needed land
And plots to call their own
Now they tell me its okay
For a school to have the mascot
Dress up in the same clothes as my Teton ancestors
They show the games on the tv
There are crowds of headresses
And dozens of faces cover in paint
Their "war cries" echo through the stadium
Where they pass a ball from one end to the other
And during half time you can watch the redman
Run and hop and holler
Impersonating a warrior in his prime
Its sad that these people see no wrong in these acts
"Its a tradition!" they claim
"Something thats been done for ages"
Cue the bitter laughter
Its a point thats proven true
Just grab an American history book
And flip to the beginning
There will be hundreds of tales
About the fight against these brown native men
And even after the war was won
They continue to earse the brown from his skin
They locked the people on strips of land
And took the children to boarding schools
Where they where told
How to dress
How to speak
And even how to live
They took their names
They took their homes
They even took their words
And all the while the Caucasian man was chanting
"Kill the indian, save the man"

breathing ain't that easy
and shots fall way too fast
it never was over
the stuff ain't in the past

the struggle is real
you can't deny it
open your eyes
and look around
all the places
all the people
all the souls
on the ground

"why" you ask
We need to answer
and I say " yes"
It's in the past
We had a dream
and I still have
that things can change
and everyone can breathe

That people can follow
and don't have to question
don't have to wonder
why they can still breathe
cause this is a world
about to go down
feels like suffocating
as soon as a shot lays you down

drowning to the ground
and you will scream
" I can't breathe"
the river of blood
it strangulates your faith
it goes too fast
and they will reply
" and I can't hear"
and all you do
you want to now
"why did you shot me?"
"why'd you let me go?"
