things i wanted to tell
them
It's okay if you like the color pink; it's okay if you
like the color black.
It's okay if you're girly, or even if you don't
enjoy dressing up.
It's okay if you dislike wearing makeup, and it's okay
if you like it -
it's cool if you like fashion, and if you prefer not to
think about it.
It's okay if you hate shaving!
It's alright to be blonde, a redhead, a brunette -
it's okay to have black hair, gray hair,
purple/green/rainbow hair.
It can be straight, it can be wavy, it can be curly or long or
short or nonexistant.
It's okay.
Different body types happen: You
might be a thicker or thinner on top or bottom,
have muscles or not.
What matters is that you are completely healthy at whatever
size you are.
It's okay to be gay, straight, somewhere in between, or
asexual.
You can be a female, a male, genderqueer, or non-binary - and
it's okay.
It's okay to be black, white, tanned or not - it's okay
to be any color of the rainbow.
It's alright to prefer One Direction to Metallica -
it's alright if it's the other way
around.
You can like rock music, rap, country, pop, electronica or folk
music.
You can enjoy classical music or screamo - and you can listen
to them all if you want!
It's okay to be Christian. It's also okay to be an
atheist. It's okay to be neither!
It's okay to not know how to do something.
It's okay to contradict yourself, to spell things wrong,
and to change your opinions.
You're allowed to make mistakes, though it's important
to remember to learn from them.
You're allowed to talk about yourself, to share your
feelings, and to brag a little;
you're allowed to love yourself.
You're allowed to decline talking about things you feel
uncomfortable discussing.
It is always okay to assert yourself.
It's okay to want to stay inside, just like it's fine
if you prefer to go out.
It's cool to be a little introverted, a little extroverted,
a lover of cats or of dogs.
It's fine to read thick books or little books, comic books
or mangas.
It's fine to have the latest technology, just as it is to
have next to no technology.
I reiterate here:
You're allowed to love yourself.
You're allowed to assert yourself.
You're allowed to be yourself.
