Ok, so I need to say this.
Lately I have been just looking at the comments on photos of people
who happen to be skinny and I can't stand reading them. Instead
of supporting the girls in these pictures for being perfectly
healthy (Skinny can be totally healthy) People, instead, make
comments like:
"real women have curves"
"she probably has an eating disorder"
"that's not natural"
"no one should be that skinny"
Why not? Why do people have to put others down to make themselves
feel better? I can guarantee you that there are loads of people who
appear skinny, but are perfectly healthy. Just because they are
smaller than average doesn't make them any less of a person on
the inside. Some people don't understand this, but calling
someone too skinny, or claiming they have an eating disorder is bad
for two main reasons. 1) That is just as bad as pointing out that
someone is overweight, and too that can be harmful to those who
really do struggle with eating disorders. For example, I have been
naturally skinny all of my life. Not to say that is good or
anything. People always make comments about my weight, and believe
me, it is really frustrating. I never make comments about other
people's weight. Now don't taking this the wrong way and
say that I have never experienced the other end of this situation.
The point I am trying to make is that putting down someone for
their weight, no matter what it is, can be offensive. I just want
to say that there are people who are thin and healthy and there is
no need to be hurtful.
Thank you for your time.
