Healing Quotes

When somebody touches you,
and you really don’t wanna be touched,
that’s not really being touched.
You still got you inside of you.
I overcame myself, the sufferer; I carried my own ashes to the mountains; I invented a brighter flame for myself. And behold, then this ghost fled from me.

to heal
you have to
get to the root
of the wound
and kiss it all the way up
All I wanted was to be a splinter under your skin,
to be wrapped in your body and wait for you to heal over me.

They say time heals
all wounds, but that
presumes the source
of the grief is finite.

When you’re broken, people are going to come along and try to fix you. They’ll try to fix you with their words. They’ll try to fix you with drugs and therapy and they’ll try to minimize the lingering and bitter taste of loneliness and feeling of isolation. People are going to attempt to pick up your pieces and make you whole. But those shards will cut their hands and the sight of blood dripping from their fingertips will turn them away from your presence. But sweetheart someone is going to come along and pick up the shards with no hesitation. The shards will cut them and scar them but they will surely see all the beauty behind the gashes. That, my friend, is enough to make you whole again.

you won’t be lonely forever, no matter how deep the cut may be.

You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

When you have fought so hard to get back on your feet, don’t ever go back to the people who knocked you down.

Not everyone is okay with living like an open wound. But the thing about open wounds is that, well, you aren’t ignoring it. You’re healing; the fresh air can get to it. It’s honest. You aren’t hiding who you are. You aren’t rotting. People can give you advice on how to heal without scarring badly. But on the other hand there are some people who’ll feel uncomfortable around you. Some will even point and laugh. But we all have wounds.
