This is the beauty of vulnerability. It’s standing
on the edge of a cliff with the definite possibility of
falling, but giving away your heart anyways, because
there’s an even bigger chance of the wind grabbing ahold
of you, and you learning to fly.
There’s
no win-win here. There never is. Either your heart is safe but
completely deprived of experiencing great love, or your heart is
in more danger than it’s ever been while simultaneously
experiencing a feeling so special that it’s practically
impossible to put into words. It’s up to you. Just remember
that safety is not the same thing as
happiness.
Realize
that sleeping on a futon when you're 30 is not the worst
thing. You know what's worse, sleeping in a king bed next to
a wife you're not really in love with but for some reason you
married, and you got a couple kids, and a job you hate.
You'll be laying there fantasizing about sleeping on a futon.
There's no risk when you go after a dream. There's a
tremendous amount to risk in playing it safe.
