i woke up to a bright room, and whispers from above me and to the side. ugh alyssa and blake were up. i shifted a little, and i felt i was alone. i guess pat left to not stir up anything. i rolled over, and opened my eyes to see blake staring at me.
"good morning." she said in a lovey voice.
"good morning." i said. "what time is it?"
"it's 11:36. the guys are coming in for a wake up call in 4 minutes." alyssa said from above me.
"oh are they? are we pretending to be asleep?" i asked.
"yes." blake said, and smiled. "but dev, what was that about last night?"
"nothing." i said, recalling the nights events. i took deep breaths.
"you really are going to miss him, aren't you?" alyssa asked.
"yes." i whispered.
"dev, it's okay. we'll be there, sortof. well i'll be at st. joes. i won't be that far away." blake promised. "so will chris."
"he's in too?" i asked. seeing them won't help anything, but as long as blake was with him, it would be okay.
"yea, they gave him some money for basketball."
"awesome." alyssa said, "shh. it's 11:40. they'll be coming in-" and the door clicked open.
"now!" she whispered. i shut my eyes, and listened to who's footsteps were walking into the room.
"good morning ladies." came johnny's voice. there was a silence, so we were still keeping up with it.
"oh, you won't get up for me. i guess i'm gonna need some help." and i heard him run out, and then come in with more people. i heard someone climbing up the ladder to get to alyssa, i then heard.
"good morning baby." from anthony. alyssa all but screamed.
"good morning." she said in a groggy voice. then it was quiet. then i heard footsteps walking over to blakes bed.
"good morning." i heard chris say.
"oh, good morning." she said, but her voice wasn't groggy. i was pretty sure i knew who would be waking me up, so i just sat and waited. i couple seconds later, my bed shook, and i opened my eyes to see pat looking at me.
"good morning baby." he said. i smiled, and said.
"good morning." i said breathlessly.
"ready for the beach?" he asked.
"not yet." i said, and threw my covers off, to reveal my shorts and hoodie pajamas.
"how about breakfast first?" he asked.
"sounds good." i said, and gently got off my bed. we were apparently the only two left in the room.
"wow people ditch us fast." i giggled.
"i know. let me see your hand." he said.
"no." i said, and clutched my sweatshirt around it.
"devon.." he began.
"fine." i said, and lifted my left wrist up and pulled my sleeve down. i closed my eyes, and pat gasped.
"is it really that bad?" i asked and then looked at it. it was disgusting. it was swollen around my palm area and behind that. and it didn't stop swelling until halfway up my arm.
"definitely broken." pat said.
"no, its okay. doctor on monday." i said.
"fine." pat said, and he took my good hand and led me upstairs to the kitchen. there were pancakes made for everyone, and there were two empty seats for us. we sat down, and started to eat.
"good morning." ray said to the two of us. so did rockne.
"good morning." we both said.
"beach today?" ray asked.
"yes!" we all said.
"alright. after breakfast we'll all get ready." johnny said. and we all ate in a chatter of what was to upcome for that day.
