Maybe she feels self conscious about the way she looks and so therefore she posts pictures of herself to see what people really think of her. So that way she can gain some confidence.
It actually makes perfect sense why a girl would do that, tbh. If she's looking for somebody to tell her that she's pretty--compliments can mean a lot to people--that could be the only way she'll get them. There is nothing wrong with wanting attention; sometimes people need it.
I don't think it's quite right to shame people for that.
