Chapter Sixteen
The rest of the school day with Jake was well, amazing. He was different today than usual, but not a bad different, a good different. He was so sweet and, affectionate. He was sweet and played and held with my hands, stroked my back and was constantly smiling at me. He didn’t rush things. Most guys in our school are the type to get in your pants on the first date, with the exception of few. Jake being one of those exceptions. Tristan was too. I guess I’m really lucky, to get to talk to guys who don’t take advantage of me. Some girls are out there getting their hearts broken. And that’s why I’m not going to take advantage of Jake. Tristan still didn’t try to talk to me. I was giving him until the end of the day, and if he didn’t then that was it. I was convinced I had feelings for Jake. My heart fluttered whenever I saw him, or when his warm gaze fell on me.
It was the end of the day, still no sign of Tristan. I was at my locker putting my books in ready to go home, and I saw him, at the end of the hall. He found my eyes and locked them. He made his way towards me and my heart beat faster and faster, was he coming to talk to me? He was three feet away from me, his eyes still fixed on mine and I felt someone touch my arm and the way my skin tingled, I knew it was Jake. I only got that feeling for him. I turned and smiled at him. I looked back and Tristan was fixed on something, or should I say someone, else. He flicked his eyes over at me, and then I saw him approach her, grab her hand, and lean down to kiss her. Danielle. I can’t believe he was with her again. Mixed emotions flashed all around my head. Anger, jealousy, sadness. But then, I looked at Josh and, nothing. All of those feelings were gone. But how, how could he be with her? “Ready to go?” Josh said, squeezing my and and pulling me towards the door. I shook my head, “Yeah, yeah I am.”
On the way to my house, Jake and I did nothing but laughed. We rolled down the windows, the Florida wind throwing my hair around, and sang. Loud. People from other cars, and pedestrians stared and rolled their eyes, but we didn’t care. He grabbed my hand, still laughing, and walked me to my door. His giggles ended, he sighed, and looked down at me. “I can’t wait for tonight.” I bit my lip and nodded in agreement. “Hey, speaking of tonight what are we doing?” I asked curiously. His gorgeous grey eyes flickered to my face and he laughed again. “What? What?!” I asked. “Nothing. You’re just so cute. As for tonight, you’ll see.” I crossed my arms. “Seriously?” He laughed some more, “Yes seriously!” I stomped my foot and turned the other way, pretending to throw a fit. I smiled to myself wondering what he’s going to do. He poked my sides and wrapped his arms around me. “I’m sorrrrrrry.” I couldn’t deny him. I turned around and wrapped my arms around his neck, “It’s okay but this better be hell of a date.” He kept his eyes fixed on me and nodded, “And if it isn’t you’ll forgive me anyways.” I pulled away. “We shall see.” He sighed, grabbed my hand and kissed it, “I’ll see you later.” “See you later.” Butterflies in my stomach fluttered as he beeped the horn and drove away. I was so anxious. Later couldn’t come soon enough.
I picked out my outfit got in the shower and decided to get ready. I blew and straightened my hair, and reached for the eyeliner, but hesitated. I remembered how Tristan told me I didn’t need any makeup, and he forced me to not wear any that night. And the night when, when he cheated, I didn’t wear any, and he…no. I wasn’t going to think about this. I grabbed the eyeliner and put it on. Put all my makeup on. I was going to wear makeup until Jake told me not to. It was decided. I got a text from Jake.
Jake: I’m here.
I rushed downstairs, opened the door and Josh was standing there with a dozen white roses with blue tips in his hands. “Are these for me?!” I asked. “No, they’re for the other beautiful girl I’m going on a date with tonight.” I shook my head, grabbed a vase and put some water in it. He gave me the flowers and I set them on the table. We were in the car, and began to do the same thing we did on the way home from school today.

Chapter Seventeen
The next day I woke up with a few missed calls from Jake. I had one text from Tristan. I was scared to open it. But, I didn’t need to. I had everything I wanted with Jake, why should I bring things up from the past. So I deleted it. I called Jake back and he teased me for sleeping so long. “So, Sleeping Beauty has awoken?” he said when answering his phone. I giggled to myself. “Yeah, I did.” There was a bit of silence and just I was about to speak he said, “What are you doing in about 30 seconds?” “A whole bunch of nothing. Wait, 30 seconds? Why?” I heard my doorbell ring. No, he cannot be standing outside. I ran downstairs, phone still in hand and opened the door. Jake held up a bag full of what looked like take out boxes. I took the bag from him and peeked inside. “What’s this?” I asked curiously. “Well, I thought that I would bring you breakfast.” I let him in and we sat at the table and ate. I was so comfortable around him. It’s weird, but a good weird. I ate every last piece of food he brought and even though I just woke up, I had no problem being around him looking like a mess. When we were done eating, he stood up and said, “Go get ready, we’re going somewhere.” “Well, where are we going?” He smiled down at me, “It’s a secret.” I tugged on his arm and whined, “Why do you do this to me. How do I know what to wear?” He thought for a second, trying to decide what to say without giving up the secret. “Casual clothes are good, bring a bathing suit.” I went upstairs thinking of what we could be doing. I put on some sneakers, jean shorts, and a tank top. I slipped a bathing suit, brush, and a few other things into a bag and went downstairs. He was waiting at the bottom of the steps for me. “Jump!” He said. I flung off the step and he caught me in his arms, but he lost his balance and he fell down. “Oh no! Are you okay? You’re not hurt right?” He asked. But I couldn’t stop laughing. His face when we fell was priceless. “What are you laughing at?!” “Your, hahahaha, face, hahaha, when, hahaha, you, haha, fell, HAHAHAHA!” He crossed his arms and pouted “Hey! Rude.” He tickled me and lay down on top of me. He gave me a cute smile and said, “Is this face better?” I cupped his face in my hands and nodded. He kissed my nose and stood up walking out the door. “Thanks for the help up!” I shouted after him. He turned and looked at me laying on the floor, my hand in the air praising him for his help. He bent over laughing and ran over to me to help me up.
We got into the car and it was a longggg drive to wear we were going, but we finally got there. We pulled up to a lake house. “Is this your lake house?” He nodded his head and lead me into the house. “This is our place for the weekend.” He said wrapping his arms around me and kissing my shoulder, up to my neck, nibbling my ear. He whispered to me and said “We can do anything we want.” I bit my lip, suddenly feeling a pull towards him. “Anything?” I asked connecting my lips with his. I felt his hands on my waist. I looked around and saw a couch. I walked him over to the couch and pulled him on top of me. My hands ran through his hair while his ran up and down my body. He was kissing my neck and I began to take his shirt off when the doorbell rang. He pulled away from me and said “Just, wait. One second. I’ll be right back.” He jogged to the door and opened it. He sounded way confused. “Oh uh hey, come in..” He walked over to me, sat down and wrapped his arms around me. “Who is it?” I asked. He nodded towards the door and who else walked in but Tristan and Danielle…
Okay, just for clarification. His name is JAKE. Josh was a mistake. He comes in later in the story. But my grandfather died, im sorry I haven’t written. But again, Jake NOT Josh.

We met in kindergarten. We were best friends.
She always told me she loved my eyes. I didn't quite know why.
I was in love with her, so of course my face lit up immensely whenever she said it.
She was beautiful, kind, and extremely funny.
We'd be talking about nothing, and she'd turn to me and whisper,
"I like your eyes."
One day, I was playing basketball,
waiting for her to drive over to my house to have a game with me.
Suddenly, I got a phone call.
It was her mom. She was in a panic.
I couldn't quite understand what she was saying. It sounded like,
"Aaron, come quick! Kelsey, accident, Main Street! Blood. Come now!"
I had no clue what happened,
so I ran to Main Street with my basketball shorts and a tee shirt on.
I saw Kelsey's mom helplessly crying, waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
I saw a totaled car, blood everywhere.
Then I saw her, Kelsey.
My heart stopped as I frantically ran over to her.
"Kelsey? Kelsey!" She was unconscious. I started crying.
I know it isn't very manly, but I couldn't help it.
Before I could say anymore, the medics took her away,
the main source of blood coming from her head.
I went to the hospital that night,
I went every night.
in fact, the only time I left was to go out to eat, but that's it.
The doctors tried getting me to leave, but I refused.
It was all my fault.
If it wasn't for me, wanting to play basketball with her,
she wouldn't be going through this.
It was already four days, and she hasn't woken up.
On the fifth day, I saw her eyes gently open.
"Kelsey?" I called.
She wasn't quite awake yet.
Suddenly, doctors came rushing in, telling me I had to wait outside.
I did, for a few hours.
One of the doctors finally came out saying,
"I understand that you're Kelsey's friend, Aaron?"
"Yes," I whispered.
He bit his lip.
"She woke up, she's fine,
but I'm afraid she has long term memory loss."
"Are you serious?" I almost shouted.
"I'm afraid so."
I didn't meet his gaze. I couldn't.
I wasn't going to say anything, so he spoke again.
"You can go see her if you want,
but she doesn't remember anything, not even her mom."
I walked in, trembling in horror.
I saw her. She looked helpless as she slept.
I waited a few hours, until I saw her eyes opening gently again.
I expected doctors to run in, rushing me out.
Instead, she looked me straight in the eyes, and whispered,
"I don't know you, but I like your eyes."
