i am who i am today,
because you did not beleive in me. you didn't think i'll
ever make it, and you never supported me. that's why i slack
off, and get bad grades.

you should never do that, prove them wrong and in the end they will realize you made it better off, by yourself without their support. Showing that you are strong and you can be independant.
