- I still love you. Chapter 9. When I woke up from my nap, all of my friends and family were gathered around my hospital bed. "Excuse me folks, but we can only have 5 visitors at a time." The nurse told us. My family left, leaving just my friends and I. "Oh my god Kadri, we're so glad you're okay!" Brynn shrieked, giving me a welcoming hug. Ainsley did the same. "I'm fine guys." I smiled, for the first time in the past 5 hours. They told me how scared they were, and how sorry, even though it wasn't anyones fault. Then Owen and Cade each gave me a hug, telling me they were glad I was okay. Cade and Owen were like brothers to me. "Where's Connor?" I asked hesitently. I couldn't help but wonder, I wanted to see him so badly. "Probably crying somewhere." Cade laughed. I punched him with all the strength I had left in me. "Be nice." I said defensively. He backed off. Just then, Connor walked through the door. "Wow, I think there's something outside that we all need to go look at, except Connor and Kadri." Cade said obliviously. Obviously he wanted Connor and I to be alone. "I don't see anything?" Brynn said confused. "Here, let me show you." Ainsley rolled her eyes at Brynn's stupidity, leading her towards the door. When everyone was finally gone, Connor stood before me, staring into my tired eyes. Then, without warning, he leaned down and gave me a tight hug. One of those hugs where you can tell the other person doesn't want to let go. "I'm so sorry Kadri." He whispered into my ear. "It's not your fault." I muttered into his warm shoulder. "No, it is." He insisted. "I'm the one who threw you in, in the first place. This is all my fault." "That's not true Connor, you know that. It could've happened to anyone." I explained, but he didn't even start to belive it. "Kadri, I could've..could've.." He couldn't get the words out, but I knew what he wanted to say. "I could've killed you." He said icily. his voice shaking. I could tell by his hurt eyes that he really was sorry. "Yes, but you didn't.." I said quietly. "I'm still here." My words didn't help, though, because the fact that he almost did, was enough for him to never forgive himself. "But Kadri, it's not just that." He said reluctuntly. "It's how i've been ignoring you..and hurting you..since the day we broke up." He admitted. I was speechless. Was he really apologizing? "No, it's fine Connor..really." I said persistantly. "No, it's not." He repeated, pushing strands of my brown hair out of my face. Then, he leaned down and kissed me. I don't know how long it lasted, but it was amazing. Unbelievable, really. When he pulled away, a look of disbelief was on his face. "What did I just do.." He mumbled under his breath. I pretended not to hear it, but it was so hard not to. "I-I have to go." He said nervously, gathering his things. I didn't object, or even move at all. I was too afraid that I would start crying. Reguardless of our kiss, and our previous conversation, I knew nothing had really changed between us. Nothing ever would. I will always be a mistake to him. - I still love you. Chapter 11. When I woke up the next morning, dry blood covered my arms. Smeared makeup covered my face, and my arms stung. I stared at the gashes, thinking back to last night. How could you, Connor? I thought. He played me like a fool. In the end though, it was still my fault. Who was I to believe that he was really sorry. I slowly got out of bed, making sure nothing touched my arms. Even the smallest blow of air sent a painfull chill through my whole body. I grabbed an outfit from my closet, and walked to the bathroom, turning on the shower. I undress, and got it, only to be greeted by more pain. When the water collided with my arms, I broke out into sobs. It hurt unbelievably bad. I managed to wash my hair with the arm that had very few cuts, keeping the other out of reach from the water. I was relieved when I finally finished. I got dressed in my nike running shorts, and a T-Shirt. Then, I remember my arms, how everyone would see them if I wore a T-Shirt. I didn't want to have to explain them to anyone. I went back to my closet and grabbed a long sleeve shirt, and threw that on instead. I blow dried my hair, then threw it up in the same messy bun it was in yesterday. While I applied my makeup, I got a text from Ainsley, saying that everyone was meeting up at the beach in a half hour to play volleyball. I was glad she said volleyball instead of swimming, I would have been screwed. 'I'll be there(: ' I sent back, finishing my makeup. It didn't look great, but clearly, I had no one to impress. I slipped on my flip flops down stairs, and started walking towards the beach. It seemed that this walk to the beach was becoming a daily trip for me. I couldn't wait until I could drive by myself. When I arrived at the beach, it was only Ainsley and Brynn, who were peppering the ball back and forth. The guys showed up quickly later, though. Cade, Owen, and even Connor. I looked for his little blonde friend, but she was no where to be found. "Who wants to be team captains?" Brynn asked. Both Ainsley and Connor's hands shot up. The rest of us stood in a line, waiting to be picked. "Ladies first." Ainsley said, choosing Cade. She was such a flirt. "I'll take Kadri." Connor muttered, pointing towards me. I rolled my eyes, and trudged over to him. Was this some kind of pity act? "You picked a chick over me?!" Owen complained. We all laughed. Ainsley then picked Owen, and we got Brynn. "You picked first, we serve." Connor said, taking the ball from Ainsley's hands and tossing it to Brynn. While we played, I managed to keep the ball away from my cuts on my wrists. There were a few passes that stung a little, but nothing too major. "Your serve Kadri." Brynn smiled, tossing the ball to me. I positioned myself, throwing the ball up in the air. "Serve!" I yelled, slapping the ball with my wrist. "F//k!" I screamed in pain, collapsing to the ground. Connor was the only one who noticed, while everyone else kept playing. "Kadri, are you okay?" He asked concerned, walking towards me, where I had collapsed into the sand. "Let me see." He said, reaching down to where I held my wrist. "No, i'm fine." I snapped, quickly pulling my arm out of his reach. "Kadri, just let me see." He said, grabbing my arm gently. A look of shock spread across his face when he pulled my sleeve up. "K-kadri..where'd you get these?" He asked, a little scared, reffering to the cuts on my wrist that were now bleeding again. "I got in a fight." I bit my lip, trying to hold back the tears. "With who?" He asked, staring deep into my eyes. I shrugged, letting a tear trickle down my cheek. "Myself." If it wasn't for me, wanting to play basketball with her, she wouldn't be going through this. It was already four days, and she hasn't woken up. On the fifth day, I saw her eyes gently open. "Kelsey?" I called. She wasn't quite awake yet. Suddenly, doctors came rushing in, telling me I had to wait outside. I did, for a few hours. One of the doctors finally came out saying, "I understand that you're Kelsey's friend, Aaron?" "Yes," I whispered. He bit his lip. "She woke up, she's fine, but I'm afraid she has long term memory loss." "Are you serious?" I almost shouted. "I'm afraid so." I didn't meet his gaze. I couldn't. I wasn't going to say anything, so he spoke again. "You can go see her if you want, but she doesn't remember anything, not even her mom." I walked in, trembling in horror. I saw her. She looked helpless as she slept. I waited a few hours, until I saw her eyes opening gently again. I expected doctors to run in, rushing me out. Instead, she looked me straight in the eyes, and whispered, "I don't know you, but I like your eyes."
