nine.
The rest of the night was a blur, I got into the ambulance by telling them that I was the girls sister. I ended up sat in a hallway alone with a baby which I didn't know, great.
A nurse stepped into the room, 'Miss Webber?'
'Yes, um- yes thats me,' I said, jumping up and clumbsly holding the tiny baby. Thankfully, the girl had a purse with her name in it. Lily Webber, I guess that means I'm Alyssa Webber for now.
'Your sister is fine now, barely broke the skin to be honest love.' She smiled, 'Shes got alot of stitches in her side though, You can see her now!'
She led me into a little room where the girl was lying, I had no idea what I was going to do next. This girl, my supposed sister was homeless. She had a baby. My mother is going to kill me. Lily took one look at me and sighed, 'What are you doing here?'
I stared back, 'I-I don't know, I wanted to make sure you were okay.. I-I- Do you want to hold her?' I asked, smiling weakly.
She took the baby from me and told me to sit down. I sat on the edge of her bed carefully, 'Thanks, I started to think nice people didn't exsist.' She laughed, 'Whats your name?'
'Alyssa. Look, Lily? I was thinking, since you er.. have nowhere to live, I thought-'
'Don't do this, just because I'm in here doesn't mean you have to make a fuss. The ten dollars you gave me was more than enough,' she said, she remembered me.
'No, you can't take this baby back to that street. Think of it as me doing a favor for her,'
She looked at the baby in her arms, 'Okay. She smiled and took my hand. 'We'll be no trouble, I promise,' She smiled.
