Hey, I don't post stories on here because my best friend follows me & I don't want to be criticized. So here's my sample:


"Danielle? Kate's here!" my mother called up to me.
" 'Kay, Mom! Be right down!" I shouted, quickly grabbing a jacket and heading downstairs.
"Dani!" Kate, my best friend, exclaimed. "Change of plans, is the park cool with you?"
"The park? Sure, why?" We had planned to go to Kaylee's house & have a 'girl's night' type of thing.
"Because Devon asked Kaylee to go there, and Chase will be there, too. Please?" Kate pleaded, widening her brown eyes.
I sighed. "You know, I really hate when you do that."
"So that's a yes?"
I was already halfway out the door when I answered. "No, Kate. It's definitely a no." I heard laughter behind me as Kate followed me.

When we arrived at the park, we found Kaylee already there, sitting next to Devon, who had his arm around her.
"Aww, you guys are such a cute couple!" I said, receiving a happy smile from Kaylee.
"And we're not?" Chase asked, feigning horror. He grabbed Kate and spun her around, making her laugh. "And for the grand finale...the tickle monster!" Kate began shrieking as he tickled her.
"The tickle monster?" I asked, smirking. But my blood ran cold when I realized I wasn't the only one who had spoken. I glanced around, Kaylee's eyes were wide as she looked at something behind me, and Chase and Kate had stopped, both wearing the same half confused, half shocked expressions.
I turned around, looking at whoever was standing there.
Josh. He was tall, nicely built, and had black skater hair and dark eyes. A week earlier, he had been Devon and Chase's third companion. A week earlier, he would have been here with us, probably teasing me. A week earlier, he would have made jokes about his friends. A week earlier, he would have complimented Kaylee or Kate.
A week earlier he had broken my heart.
