            Chapter 16

I went to spanish next but I didn't really pay attention in that class. I kept thinking of Savannah. Did I like her? I know my original plan was to just use her to get Ava jealous. But now I could like her and get Ava jealous all at the same time. Killing two birds with one stone.
I was happy once spanish ended because I knew I'd see Savannah walking out of Mr. Ian's classroom when I walked in. I saw her standing talking to Mr. Ian with her back facing me so she didn't see me. I took my seat next to Ava which was awkward.
    "I'm sorry," Ava said.
....what? She keeps fighting with me and then apologizing to me. Does she like me or does she like me so Savannah can't?
"Me too," I said just to avoid problems.
"Fine," I heard Savannah say to Mr. Ian.
"Thank you so much!" Mr. Ian said to her. "Ava! Meet your new tutor!"
The look Savannah and Ava got on their face was the exact same look. "WHAT?" they both yelled in disbelief. I found it kind of amusing but didn't say anything.
"Nooooo no no no no!" Savannah said to Mr. Ian. "I can't tutor her!"
     "Why what's wrong?"
"She hates me and I hate her. This isn't going to work!" Savannah said.
Ava turned to me and whispered, "I'm really sorry for everything I've done. I know you like Savannah but you like me more. I shouldn't have been afraid of losing you and I'm sorry I said that." She kissed me.
"Are you kidding me?" Savannah said. "I don't want to tutor that." She started walking out the door.
"Wait," Mr. Ian said. "Is that a hickey on your neck?"
"What??" Savannah blushed. "No I was playing with my hair and it probably turned my neck red."
"Are you sure?" Mr. Ian said.
"Um, yeah, kinda," Savannah said back.
"Are you kidding me? She couldn't get a guy to hook up with her if her life depended on it," Ava turned to me. I didn't say anything. When Ava turned to face front Savannah was standing over her desk eye level with her.
"Say that again. I dare you," Savannah yelled at her. Everyone became silent. I had no idea what to say.
"Savannah, calm down," Mr. Ian said, but Savannah ignored him.
"Do it!" Savannah yelled at Ava. Ava sat there in fear, not saying a word. I could tell she was afraid and intimidated. She looked at me out of the corner of her eye, silently pleading for help, but I just didn't know what to do.
Savannah punched her face. Ava made a wimpering noise. Some people applauded Savannah. Others laughed. Some looked at Mr. Ian to see his reaction. And others just sat there speechless like me.
"That's what I thought," Savannah yelled at her one last time before leaving the room.

"And I swear I thought I knew you, but all that was yesterday, and now you turn it around, what's that about? You're freaking me out," -Freaking Me Out, Simple Plan feat. Alex Gaskarth

Note: lol imagine this actually happened. Like your girlfriend gets punched in the face by the new girl you're taking an interest in. Like what do you do in a situation like that?

            Chapter 19

I went downstairs to the kitchen for dinner. My mom had made pasta, probably because I had a game tomorrow.
"Where's Corinne?" I asked. Corinne was my twelve(?) year old sister.
"Dad took her out to dinner, even though today is supposed to me my day," she said bitterly.
"Thanks for taking me too, Dad," I thought to myself. Corinne had always been the favorite though so it wasn't shocking that dad only took her.
"So I talked to Savannah," I said, trying to start up a conversation.
"Oh about what?" mom asked excitedly.
"Well she basically broke her hand from punching Ava," I said.
"Oh no," mom said. I couldn't tell if she was being sincere or sarcastic.
"And I invited her to come to the game tomorrow and then to come over after to hang out. Is that okay?"
"Of course! What are you gonna do here, just hang out?"
     "Yeah, probably," I said.
"Okay, well just be careful," she said. I knew what she meant by that.
     "Mom!"
     "She's older than you!"
"By a year! And it's the first time we're hanging out."
"Yeah, I know..." she said, implying she thought Savannah did stuff like this on first dates with guys. Not that this was a date though.
"She's not like that, mom. Don't worry," I said.
"I hope you're right," she said.
I hated talking to her about things like this, but she was the only person I had to go to. We've always been close, but of all people, a fourteen year old guy should not be talking to his mom about girls. But ever since Dad left us, it's been hard.
Mom asked me more about Savannah and about school and football and other things until finally dinner was over and Dad dropped Corinne off home. I went on Facebook and looked through Savannah's pictures.
In a lot of pictures she was smiling or with her friends or with guys. How has she never had a boyfriend before? She's hugging a bunch of guys or kissing them on the cheek or something. And in the pictures of her and her friends, it was usually mobile uploads of them doing something stupid like cooking four boxes of mac and cheese in a pot made for one box or of Savannah after she fell in mud or of her and her friends having a water balloon fight at midnight outside in their bathing suits.
I didn't see any pictures of her family though. From asking around though, I knew she had two brothers and a sister. Her older brother was a senior at our school and he was really popular. He was a legend for getting with so many girls or getting in trouble with the cops. He was known for being wild and Savannah was known for being shy. But judging from these pictures, she was crazy too.
The next day at school, I couldn't wait to see her. I thought maybe she'd come by the eighth grade wing but she didn't. And I didn't want to go to the freshmen wing and seem like a stalker looking for her. Since I couldn't talk to Chris or Ava anymore, I looked for someone to talk to. I saw Brookyln but she was already with a bunch of people. I saw Tyler who I played football with.
    "Tyler," I called.
"Hey, what's good man?" he gave me a handshake.
"Do you know where I'd find Savannah Grant?" I asked.
"Oh, that tall blonde chick?" he asked. "Don't you have a thing with her now?"
    "Ha, I don't know," I fake laughed.
"Yeah, but I think she's in the office for her in school suspension for hitting Ava or whatever," he said.

"Oh, okay, thanks man," I said. I was kind of disappointed but I didn't want to show it. A whole day without her would be boring. That's when I realized I was 95% sure I liked her.
