The Boardwalk: 1 I sat on the edge of the dock with my feet dipped into the cool water. I knew this feeling so well. Whenever I was distressed I would come here and just think, and sometimes cry. I looked up and saw all my friends around me, smiling at me and comforting me, saying "everything will be alright." and "Giana, everything will work out." I smiled and looked down at the water and saw my father's face staring back at me where my reflection should have been. he said, "Im sorry Gi, but..." just then,the friends surrounding me started closing in on me. Some sprouted fangs and began clawing at my hair and the back of my neck. I screamed. I woke up with a start. "it was just a dream, just a dream." I said comforting myself. I then came back into reality, it was September 1 at 5:03 am. I stared around my room and saw boxes stacked high with clothes and all my possesions. A few days ago my dad and I moved from Oklahoma to California. After him and my mom split up he felt that Oklahoma only held bad memories, so he packed me up and moved here to his beach house, full time. It was the first day of school today, and not going to lie, I was really nervous. I expected everyone to be super pretty, blonde and tan, I was just Giana from Oklahoma, nothing special. I decided to get up and out of bed to start to get ready for school. I felt groggy as i stood up and looked in the mirror. A classic italian girl with dark wavy hair and tan skin stared back at me. The only thing about me that wasn't italian was my piercing, icy blue eyes. They were my mom's. I spent extra time on my make up this morning, carefully applying alittle eyeliner and mascara. I used coverup on a small pimple on my forehead. Greatt, just what I need on the first day of school. "this is as good as it's gonna get" I mumbled to myself and trudged down the stairs. This house is gonna take some getting used to. It was a lot larger and nicer than my old house. I could see the beach from the porch and the kitchen was huge. Just then , my dad walked downstairs. he yawned, "Hey Gi, first day of school!" "Yeah It's gonna be great," I said with a toothy, fake smile. "That's good." He said, stretching as he let out a huge shuddering yawn. "Now, don't be nervous, I know what it's like ot be in a new school. When I was a kid...." and he started to ramble on about some story of when he was a kid and he had to move. Needless to say, I've heard it probably 100008e708370287 times in the past week, ever since we moved here. I checked the clock and noticed it was 7. Did I really take that long to do makeup and pick out an outfit? "Oh jeez dad, I gotta go," I said, grabbing an apple from the kitchen counter. "Kelsey?" I called. She wasn't quite awake yet. Suddenly, doctors came rushing in, telling me I had to wait outside. I did, for a few hours. One of the doctors finally came out saying, "I understand that you're Kelsey's friend, Aaron?" "Yes," I whispered. He bit his lip. "She woke up, she's fine, but I'm afraid she has long term memory loss." "Are you serious?" I almost shouted. "I'm afraid so." I didn't meet his gaze. I couldn't. I wasn't going to say anything, so he spoke again. "You can go see her if you want, but she doesn't remember anything, not even her mom." I walked in, trembling in horror. I saw her. She looked helpless as she slept. I waited a few hours, until I saw her eyes opening gently again. I expected doctors to run in, rushing me out. Instead, she looked me straight in the eyes, and whispered, "I don't know you, but I like your eyes."
