The few days I had with Justin flew by. I wanted to tell myself that we were still as tight as ever, but something felt.. different. Wrong, in a way. It wasn't the careless, crazy, passionate love we had back in L.A. It just feels weird because hes in Stratford with you, I told myself, running my hand through my perfectly straightened, chocolate brown hair. It was around 3pm. Justin was leaving the next morning. I fidgeted with the straps of my tank top, glancing down at my phone. The girls should be here any second. Stratford always holds a mid-summer formal dance, to kind of reunite everyone from school I guess. I was shocked when Justin said he wanted to go. I had almost forgotten about it, honestly.
My cell vibrated, pulling me away from my thoughts.
B there in a sec. Sam brought cookies.
"okaay.." I murmured, smiling to myself.
cookies r always good ;) I replied.
Of course, me and my friends had to get together 4 hours before the dance actually started. The doorbell rang. I heard my mom open the front door for the girls. Suddenly, the quiet house was filled with noise. I heard Sam scream "Kylie! Ya weirdo! Get down here!"
I giggled and swung open my bedroom door, jogging over to the top of the stairs. "Aren't we getting ready up here?"
"Cookies, duh." Sam rolled her eyes, waving the grocery-bought box over her head. I shrugged and flew down the stairs, giddily coming to a stop right in front of them.
"Whoa." Becca widened her big blue eyes. "Some ones excited."
"Ahh-coursee." Carrie flipped her hair over her shoulder in an exaggerated movement, mimicking a bratty girl from our school. Sam snorted.
I blushed. "Not really."
"Don't lie, Kylie," Becca nudged me with her elbow, "you know every ones gana be ALL over you and Justin."
I wrinkled my eyebrows, annoyed. "uhh actually becca, I don't like it that everyone is constantly watching us." Of course, I thought. Becca, who was always the center of attention with her flirty personality and good looks, was jealous of my couple publicity. Whatever.
"Guys," Carrie said excitedly, pulling our attention away from our little disagreement. "Look what John gave me." She held out her hand to show us a pretty little silver bracelet that had etched in the inside, I love you.
"Precious!" Becca cried, holding her hand to her heart. "I wish Corrie would do something like that."
"Very cute." Sam agreed, stuffing a heavily frosted cookie into her mouth.
"I love it." I smiled at Carrie, and then turned to Sam. "Hey, gimmie one of those."
My mother passed through the Kitchen, a basket of loundry on her hip. "Don't eat too much now girls, you don't want a stomach ache while dancing."
Sam brushed her hand in a dismissive way in my mothers direction, and we laughed. My mom chuckled and continued to the bathroom.
"So," Becca started, flicking a cookie crumb off the counter. We all had noticed that a cookie sat on a napkin infront of her, untouched. "What does your dress look like Sam?"
Sam had gotten hers in Maine, and accidently left it there when she made the long trip home. Classic Sam. Her relatives had sent it as soon as the could, and it just arrived yesterday, so none of us had had the chance to see it yet.
"Bet its gorgeous." Carrie said through a bike of cookie. I eagerly nodded in agreement.
"Its like.. hmmm.." Sam scratched her chin, looking off into space. Me and Carrie giggled. Becca rolled her eyes.
"How about we all go upstairs now and I dont know.. get them on so she can actually show us?"
"Good idea." I said quickly, ignoring the sarcasm in her voice.
I couldn't wait for Justin to see my dress. Maybe this night will patch up the little bit of tense ness that was surrounding us.
Now that theres no more homework, there will be lots more writing :) keep posted! <33
