Chapter 4:
Next to the insane beating of his heart, the
locusts were the loudest thing in the meadow. As my head rested
on his strong chest, it made me feel safe. The stars and moon
stared down on us and imprisoned us in this meadow, for what
seemed like forever. A shooting star penetrated the
night's calm being.
"Hey Babe, did you see that? Guess what I wished for?"
Austin whispered, as if his words would end our lives.
"What?" His fingers traced my chin as he pulled me
closer to his face. When our lips touched my heart ached with
joy. It was literally a dream come true. It was the best
experience of my-
"Jessica! Wake up!" My mom screeched as her fist
pounded on my door. I looked at my clock and it said 3:04 A. M.,
so I slid out of bed slowly, upset that my dream had such a rude
awakening. As I quickly did my hair, threw on shorts and a
hoodie, and slapped on some makeup, I over heard my dad talking
to Austin's dad about what roads we were going to take. I
rolled my suit case out of my room, while also holding my purse,
duffel bag, a book, my cell phone, and IPod. When I got out to
the kitchen, i dropped my things and grabbed the first piece of
toast that popped out of the toaster. I quickly shoved it into my
mouth and spun around. To my suprise, Austin and his
big brown eyes were so close to my face, I almost smacked his
face with my toast. The corners of his mouth stretched to a smile
as I thought to myself, "This will be the longest week of my
life..."
