Basically, the simple but amusing fact is that in the Disney universe, there are both animals portrayed as animals and anthropomorphic animals which are animals portrayed as humans. Pluto is a real dog. He is Mickey's pet dog. Goofy is a anthropomorphic dog. He is Mickey's friend. His original name was 'Dippy Dawg'.
