A second chance chapter 2 There was blood everywhere, pouring

A second chance
chapter 2

There was blood everywhere, pouring from his head. Not again, this can't be happening. I dialled 9-1-1 into my cell phone and pressed call. The operater picked up and I told her to send an ambulance immediately, then I hung up. I was shaking from head to toe, he was losing a lot of blood.
I guess he must've fallen with his new leg. It really isn't working for him. He used to use crutches constantly but just recently he was fitted for a new leg, but he really can't balance with it.
I looked at his burnt leg, it was gone in some places, just gone. They told me that it would have to be amputated, quickly. If not, he would die. He came out of surgery and they said it wasn't a very clean cut because the burn was at such an odd angle, so it would be hard to him to get fitted for a leg.
I snapped out of it. He needed me right now, I couldn't go into a mental meltdown like I do just about every day. I grabbed the closest towels and papertowels and pressed them up against the hole in his head. Then I heard the sirens. I opened up the door just as the medics were running up the driveway. I prayed that they weren't to late as I led them to my dad.
They lifted him up into the stretcher and loaded him into the ambulance. I stayed behind because my little brother would be home soon and if I left, he would be home alone without me or dad. I waited about ten minutes and Ben came home at 8 o'clock sharp. I loaded him into the car and I drove off to the hospital. I might only have a learner's permit but I wasn't going to stop that from seeing my dad.
"Where's daddy?" My 5 year old brother asked me.
"He's at the hospital, Buddy. He fell down and got hurt, but we'll go see him now and he'll be all better." I assured him, and myself. I knew that it wasn't true, though.
"Oh, that's good. I have lots to tell him about soccer practice." Ben exclaimed.
"That's great, Buddy." I half-heartedly replied as I pulled up to the hospital.
I grabbed Ben out of the back seat and ran up to the front desk.
"Name?" The pudgy lady asked me.
"Butler" I said, out of breath.
She looked at me like she was in shock.
"I'm sorry, baby. He's- he's in a coma. The doctors are doing everything they can to help, but we're not sure if he'll make it."
Ben tugged at my shirt. "Marley, where's daddy?'
"Hold on Ben." I turned back to the lady. "Can we see him?"
She nodded and sent us down the hall to our dad.
I opened the door and saw the bloody bandages on his head. It was bad, really bad. I rushed up to him and hugged him real tight.
"I'm so sorry daddy." I whispered.
