- When Love is Torn By Carter Stylinson Chapter 1, The Meet and Greet “Destiny!!!!!!” I scream, “If we don’t leave now we’ll be late!” I glance at my watch. 7:30 am. Great. The meet and greet starts at 8:15 and its an hour away in New York City. “I know, I know! I just need to unplug my curling iron! Alright ready!!!!” She flies down the stairs in a rush and runs out the door. We fly through our dorm at LaGuardia High School and rush to the small purple Smart car I received as an early 18th birthday present from my foster parents. I open the car to find a present on the seat. Destiny wiggles her eyebrows and shrieks, ”HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!” I open the present and a London links bracelet glitters in the small box. “No way!!!!”I scream, then hand her the present I got her. Of the many things Destiny and I shared, a birthday was one. She opened hers to find an identical bracelet in pink, while the one she got me was purple, my favorite. “How weird is that???” she asks. “Great minds think alike,” I reply and wink. At the meet and greet… Due to a couple of illegal speeding, we make it to the meet and greet 15 minutes early. Girls are screaming and pressing against the hotels doors, trying to get past security, and I spot a face from one of the 1D shows we watched last night. “Hey isn’t that Pablo?” I say, trying to remember 1D’s bodyguard’s name. “PAUL!!!!!!” Destiny shrieks and runs towards him. She runs straight into the hotel and shows the first security guard our passes for the meet and greet. After we both walk in, he yells to the rest of security, “These are the last two!” and they shut the front doors to the hotel. When we got to the meet and greet room, it was completely empty other than 5, amazingly hot guys sitting in 5 chairs behind a long table. Destiny completely freezes, and of course, I do the same. The guys get up and walk over to us. “Your Courtney?” Liam says, walking over. I nod silently and the biggest smile crosses my face. “So you,” Zayn points to Destiny, “are Destiny.“she squeaks. They all laugh and I start to relax. My eyes are immediately on Louis. He’s wearing a plain white t-shirt and black pants with black suspenders and high top converse, like mine. I’m wearing my Niall hat, a tight purple V-neck, and black skinny jeans. He catches me staring at him and smiles, when I blush, he starts laughing. Then he spots my London links bracelet and whistles, “Nice! I have one too!” he shows me his wrist, with a red white and blue bracelet on it. “Wow, what a coincidence, Destiny gave it to me this morning for our birthday, and I gave her one too, weird right?” I smile. They all suddenly stop laughing and look at each other, then scream, ”ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY?????” me and destiny exchange glances and nod. They suddenly burst out laughing. Suddenly Niall gets this sad look on his face. “Hey what’s the matt-“ he interrupts me, “YOU DIDN’T BRING CAKE!!!” and Louis adds laughing, “OR CARROTS!!!!” then Destiny gets her idea face on, and screams, “THEN LETS GO GET SOME CARROT CAKE!!!!!” They all nod and head for the door. "Kelsey?" I called. She wasn't quite awake yet. Suddenly, doctors came rushing in, telling me I had to wait outside. I did, for a few hours. One of the doctors finally came out saying, "I understand that you're Kelsey's friend, Aaron?" "Yes," I whispered. He bit his lip. "She woke up, she's fine, but I'm afraid she has long term memory loss." "Are you serious?" I almost shouted. "I'm afraid so." I didn't meet his gaze. I couldn't. I wasn't going to say anything, so he spoke again. "You can go see her if you want, but she doesn't remember anything, not even her mom." I walked in, trembling in horror. I saw her. She looked helpless as she slept. I waited a few hours, until I saw her eyes opening gently again. I expected doctors to run in, rushing me out. Instead, she looked me straight in the eyes, and whispered, "I don't know you, but I like your eyes."
