A Girl At Home by Me

I wish I could live in a fairy tale,
A story where true love will never fail.
A place where my animal friends would talk and sing,
And a fairy godmother will dress me up fit for a king.
I would live with stepsisters wicked or in a cottage in the trees.
Or some other place because home I was forced to leave.
A handsome prince would then fight for my life against a witch,
And then knock the poisoned apple from my lips before I gave a last twitch.
Then live in a castle filled with laughter
Because fairy tales always end in happily ever after.
I long to live a life in one of my books.
In a place where being a hero isn't based on looks.
To go on some great adventure like Bilbo or Frodo,
To be like Katniss who started in District 12, the lowest of the low.
To be brave like a Gryffindor and smart like a Ravenclaw,
To be King Arthur, a man not without a flaw.
Or maybe I would like life in a video game,
Where nothing ever remains the same.
I want to be the Dragonborn,
Or a Grey Warden with a life full of forlorn.
To wander the Wastelands of post-apocalyptic American soil,
To be the Hero Of Bowerstone who rises out of strife and toil.
And at the end of the story will I have fortune and fame.
Alas, I will always be the girl at home, reading books and playing a video game.
