Oh hi! I'm Rachael!  I've walked this earth 15 years now, and I blow out the candles on June 12th. If you can't tell, I've been a life-long dancer. (My profile pic looks weird because I tried to get the pointe shoes in the picture.) My friends used to be my life. I didn't know what I'd do without them, but now I know after feeling so alone for so long now. I try to be a happy person, but so much has happened in my life it's been really hard to be lately. I'd label myself as an optimist in life, so if you ever need support, just talk to me and I'll get contact info to you. I get along with most everybody, so don't be shy!
I doubt you're reading this, but if you are,
you're gorgeous♥

I'm currently posting a story called "The Things You Don't Know" that I wrote a while ago. I know more people are reading it than I expected, and I really appreciate that. I'm debating starting another original story, but I don't know where to start. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

(I also have a quote on my profile with my formspring if anybody would like to hit me up on there!)

Thanks again for reading! If you do have an idea for a story you'd like me to incorporate into my next story, let me know! I love my readers♥

The Things You Don't Know
Chapter Six

I shot up from the bed in a cold sweat. I felt a warm hand on mine and looked to my left to see and man and a boy. The boy held my hand. He had jet black hair and blue eyes so bright they would put the stars to shame.
I furrowed my eyebrows at him, trying to remember why he's so familiar. The man next to him smiled and used a black pen to write something on a clipboard.
I looked down in confusion and saw a white bed with a gray sheet over my legs. I saw a bluish dress in place of my clothes. Just then I realized the pounding in my head, reached up, and touched a bandage instead of my hair. Then it hit me. I looked over at the boy and whispered, "Matt?"
He smiled and said, "Emily. You're awake and functional today."
"What is that supposed to mean?" I scowled at him.
The man answered me. "Emily, you're at the hospital. Matt here and I have come every day for almost a year now. Usually you stay asleep, but there are days like today we get to speak to you.
Your mother abused you for years, correct? Why?"
"W-well, my father left and my brother died."
"No, Emily. Your father used to beat all three of you. By the time we got to your house to take you away, it had already started."
     "What had?"
"Well, you pass out and have dreams. Dreams that never happened. And in these dreams, you see through many points of view, don't you?"
"Y-yeah? How do you know all of this?"
"We've spoken other times when you've woken up, and every time we talk you told a different story with different people. But Emily, you have a very rare case of multiple-personality disorder. Your mind creates these dreams to cope with your life, rather than keep you awake and turn you into many people."
     "I d-don't understand."
"You are you in these dreams. Abused, insecure, and always scared, especially at your locker. That is because the last thing you saw as the real you was your school locker.
Your father was supposedly dropping off your lunch one day about a year ago. He went off on you and beat you unconscious. Nobody saw because your locker is so far from the classrooms. And all those people you are and that you see in your dreams are all parts of you. They developed after that scene."
"S-so... Katy, Lucy, Julie, they're all, me?..."
"Yes. Katy is your thirst for revenge against your father. Lucy is the child you were before you were beaten, but she's also the little bit of innocence you still have. She's the nosy child who had to pay for the consequences of snooping around outside of her own business. Julie is your undying need for someone to listen. For someone to understand and just be there for you. James is a reminder of your father, because he hurt you in a way that can never be reversed or forgotten. And finally, Matt here is your escape. He allows you to forget it all for a while and still have somebody left to love and who loves you back. Who loves you no matter what."
"But, so, I-I'm just stuck here in a mental ward? For the rest of my life? Doomed to have these terrible nightmares forever?"
"Emily, you need to be here. The nurses and assistants are what keep you alive. Without them feeding and tending to you, you'd be dead."
This is too much. Nobody deserves to worry over me.
Just do it! Tell 'em to pull the plug!
     But I can't. I want to live!
     No I don't. This isn't worth it!
I freaked out inside and started rolling around on the bed screaming and crying. I really just wanted to die.
Nurse after nurse came running in, and I heard him say, "it's time."
I felt cold hands go around my wrists and ankles, holding me down as best as they could while I thrashed around, desperately trying to escape the grips for four large men.
The needle shined bright in the lights above, and I felt the sharp pinch. My head started to reel. I relaxed, closed my eyes, and everything began to slowly fade away.
And the last thing I remember is the warm familiar touch of his lips on mine.

The Things You Don't Know
Chapter Five

I looked around and opened my locker as fast as I could. I heard footsteps and whipped around, almost falling in surprise when I saw Julie smiling behind me. She reached out for a hug.
"Hey Em! Gosh I missed you!"
"Julie! Oh thank God you're back! I have so much to tell you!"
Julie had been in Washington for a couple weeks visiting family. I recapped everything that had gone on lately, right up to last night's beating. She's the only one I ever confided in right away like this.
She didn't say much. She's a girl of few words that have a large impact.
"I didn't know Katy was like that. And Matt is so cute!" she winked after the last part. "And I've told you before to move to my house! Plus we can hide you between my house and Matt's from your mom."
     "Maybe. . ."
I didn't really know what to think. We had been walking to Julie's house since I finished at my locker, so I really just zoned out and was only walking, not listening.

"God, I really don't know what to say Em."
     "Me either. . ."
She just trailed off. She looked so upset, and I didn't know how to help. Her face is bruised, but I can't point it out and risk upsetting her even more.
"Julie, it's been great seeing you, but I just want to be alone. I'm gonna go for a walk. Text you later."
I sighed, but had to let her go.
When she was gone, I continued to my house and went into the kitchen for a snack. My phone lit up when I placed it on the counter. I picked it up and answered the unknown number.
     "Hello?"
     "Where is my daughter??"
"I, I don't know Miss Stonewell. She just left."
"God, I'm going to kill that girl!"
And then the line went dead.

The Things You Don't Know
Chapter Four, Part 3

6:30 pm

     "How you feelin' Emily?"
I opened my eyes, waking up from a 45 minute nap in Matt's arms. I felt an ice pack held to my face and my cheek throbbed.
     "Terrible."
I slowly closed my eyes again as I felt his lips press against mine.
"Okay, better now." I smiled slightly and then blushed. I had told him about what went down at Katy's, and he agreed it was weird for her to do something like this now.
But all things aside, I was happy with Matt. When it came time for me to go home, he walked me home and came up to my room again. I sat down on my bed and Matt knelt down on both knees in front of me. He pulled a cherry Ring Pop out of his jacket pocket and asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course I said yes!
He knew about my home life, because I let it slip when telling him what Katy said to me. He held me close while I talked about Michael. He was only 19 when a drunk driver killed him in a car crash. He offered to get me out of my house and away from my abusive mother. He noticed all my cuts and bruises when I took my sweater off. My back was covered in bruises, my wrists covered in slits. A new hand print on my face, and razor burns on my legs (along with other cuts on my hips). And if I could get out of here, life could be so much better.
Matt left around 11 so I could sleep. He gave me a goodnight kiss and then climbed out the window. But we didn't know my mother had been right outside, listening to everything all night long. And little does he know, I had to endure another beating that night.

The Things You Don't Know
Chapter Four, Part 2

"WHAT IS THIS ABOUT??!" I screamed at Matt as I reached the kitchen.
Matt's eyes grew wide as he whispered, "where did you get that?"
     "Lucy!"
"Oh God... Oh no... No no no... Did she tell you?..."
"Duh! How could you let her go through with this?!"
"She said you were unhappy... That you needed to be away from fights and pain of not seeing James..."
"SO YOU LET HER BREAK US UP TO BE WITH HIM?!" I couldn't hold back anymore.
"I had no clue Emily... I-"
"LIAR! YOU KNEW SHE LIKED HIM!! SHE TOLD YOU SO AND YOU LET HER DO IT!!"
     "But James told you ab-"
"I DON'T CARE! HE LET HER KISS HIM!"
     "Emily... She likes him..."
"NO! YOU DON'T GET IT! SHE'S BEEN JEALOUS SINCE WE GOT TOGETHER THREE YEARS AGO!"
"I... Didn't know that part... But as soon as I found you, I got together to fix you... I didn't want you to crash and burn..."
I had no words. I felt so many things. Finally I came up with, "I'm sorry. You didn't do anything wrong. But, why did she come to you?"

*          *          *

My phone buzzed beside me on the couch, and when I pulled away to look at it, it was Emily.
     "Hey, you home?" it read.
     I replied, "yeah why?"
His eyes slowly opened, and he held my chin and said, "kiss me again Katy."
I looked at my phone again after another kiss, and it said "Be there in 10".
"James, hun, you need to go. She's coming."
He sighed and said "alright. See you later Katy," and he winked at me before walking out the back door.

*          *          *

"Because he's a stupid jock that I figured could humiliate you by being with you and dumping you in front of everyone at the Thanksgiving game next week."
I couldn't even let myself cry. I said, "how long. How long have you had this planned out Kathleen?"
She laughed, stepped forward, and smacked me. "One, don't call me that. Two, since you got with him honey! Didn't you see he'd turn on you with a single temptation?"
I held my face as I stared coldly at Katy. "Go ahead, he's all yours."
"Oh darling, he's been all mine. And Matty's gonna dump you when he hears about his swet little Emily being an abused crybaby. Then you'll really be alone."
And then I smacked her. She fell to the floor laughing hysterically. "By the way Emily, remember your brother? Remember poor Michael? Well three years ago, when he got in the car and left, he was driving here to flip on me. His fiancé found out he made out with me and called everything off. So that car crash? Was MY FAULT."
And she laughed. I leaned down and started to punch her. I don't have much upper body strength, so I started kicking her. She didn't care. She went on and on about how she's always hated me and has been dying to get back at me so that my "perfect" life would crumble.
"PERFECT? My father left when my brother died! And my mother took up drinking and always beats me! Every Friday she gets drunk and every Saturday stocks back up on alcohol! My life is terrible thanks to you!"
"Good. You're not a princess, sweetheart, realize that now."
I gave her one last kick to the face and walked out of her house.

I finally made a new formspring account if anybody has anything to say or ask me! I have a story being posted called The Things You Don't Know if you'd like to read some and give me feedback! :)
The Things You Don't Know
Chapter Four, Part 1

     2:10
          Monday
I had just gotten to my locker when I saw Matt walking towards me. I said hey to him and turned to open my locker. I put my jacket on, exchanged books, and told Matt I was ready to go.
We walked six blocks to his house. When we got into the house, there was a girl sitting at the table, she had to be ten at best, drinking a glass of milk.
"Ooooh, Maaatt! Is that your giiirlfrieeend?" She said and then giggled.
Matt huffed. "No Lucy, she's just a friend. This is Emily, and Emily this is my sister Lucy."
Lucy jumped off the bar stool near the table and walked over to me. I hoped she wasn't looking me over. (I'm beyond insecure. I'm a size 5 in Aero jeans and I wear large shirts. I feel so fat.)
She stopped in front of me and gestured for me to lean down. She whispered, "can you come with me for a minute?"
I nodded slightly and told Matt we'd be right back. I heard him calling us to come back, but Lucy had grabbed my hand and led me upstairs to a small pink bedroom full of stuffed animals and posters. She let go of my hand and walked to her bed, knelt down, and stood back up holding  a small wooden box.
Lucy came over to the dresser and placed the box on top. When she opened it, I saw pictures inside. There was a boy and a girl standing on the sidewalk. I had a hunch and grabbed one picture before walking over to the large window across the room with a camera sitting on the windowsill.
And then it hit me. Those pictures were taken right here, the boy and the girl standing in front of this house.
"I think her name was Kate or somethin'."
     "Katy. . ." I whispered to myself.

*          *          *

     "They talk about you."
"They, they do?" Emily's voice quivered when she spoke. She just looked at me, closed her eyes, and slowly sank down the wall to a ball on the floor. Uh oh, she's gonna cry! What did I do?!
She looked up, her big green eyes sparkling with tears I could see she held back. I walked over and sat next to her and threw my arms around her shaking body.
I sat there and thought and thought and thought. I knew I had to remember what Matt said to her.
"W-what was she doing here Luce?"
"I don't know. But they talked about a girl named Emily a lot, so I thought it could be you."
She started crying really hard. So I knew I had to tell her what I remembered.
"Well at first, Matt didn't wanna. He thought it was bad. He said he couldn't do it."
"But he did Lucy. And it's her fault!" (She said some bad words that I'm not allowed to say.)
She wiped her face, but it didn't help 'cause her eyes were all red. She got up, took the picture, and ran downstairs.
I like her. I want her to stay. I hope Matty didn't mess things up by talking to that girl. How could she even think of doing that to her best friend anyway?
