[What do you think?]

She'd gotten through the first three quarters of the day relatively well, considering. She was only called on to answer a question once and it hadn't been all too hard. The brown haired boy- Nate, was no where to be seen and she had been able to slip in and out of classes without being noticed too much. No one had come up to her, no one really cared that she was here. That was a very good thing to Andy.

It was lunch break now, and everyone was all but stampeding towards the cafeteria to get the warmest food. It was unbelievable how fast people could go when they were hungry. Andy had hung back until only the stragglers were left in the hallways, hoping to not be crowded. The cafeteria was filled with kids with loaded trays, and the smell of grease. Andy wrinkled her nose and tightened her blond ponytail uncomfortably. Almost all of the tables were filled, maybe this hadn't been such a great idea after all.

She just stood there looking a like an idiot, or so she thought, watching everyone eat. She was about to go sit in a corner and wait until no one was in line when she saw out the corner of her eye, a few scattered people walking outside. Right! They didn't say anyone had to stay inside to eat, and it didn't look like a lot of people were out since it was so hot. Andy edged around a group of black clothed teens who looked as if they'd never seen daylight and quickly, almost ran towards the door.

Outside it was a billion times quieter, with only a few scattered teens dumb enough to sit in the scorching heat. They spoke under their breath as if it was even too hot to speak normally, huddled together. Andy knew at once that they would be easily ignored, easily pushed out of her mind. It was a relief to be out of the hectic bustle of the school, away from so many prying eyes. She sank down into the yellow green grass and drew her knees up to her chin, resting her head lightly on them. Now that things had calmed it was as if her body finally wanted to let go of all of that tension at once, and she suddenly felt weak and tired. She closed her eyes and let out her breath slowly to clear her mind. Calm down.... deep breaths.
The break didn't last long enough for her to completely wind down, but when she entered the building again and made her way to her History class, she felt remarkably calm. She brushed a strand of lonely blond hair out of her face and tucked it back into her messy ponytail before walking into the class. Her history teacher was almost the exact opposite of her math teacher- Ms. Jenell. He was as cranky and although in his mid thirties he looked ancient. His hair was black, turning a salt and pepper color already and he dressed in suit like clothes. His patience was very low and Andy took an instant dislike to him as did the others. His name was George Myer but he was soon to pick up the nickname of Killjoy, not to face of course.

The day dragged on as if it were endless, as teacher after teacher began the studies of his or her class- drilling as much information to each teenagers mind as they could. Most of them had only the objective of getting them through the year and tossing them to the next grade like a sack of potatoes. They didn't really care what the students thought of them. The only teacher even tolerable was Ms. Jenell and she was a bit iffy because after all, she was a math teacher.

The bell finally did ring, its loud buzz sounding to Andy like an angel coming to save them. Her tolerance of being confined with so many others was reaching its breaking point, and it's sound had released her from prison unlike the similar buzz of her alarm. The moments its sound rung through the class, she sprung out of her seat as fast as she could and half ran towards the classroom door. She reached for the door's handle and was about to pull it free and make her escape from confinement when a hand whirled her around to face the other way. Letting out a yelp of surprise and fear, Andy almost couldn't contain the scream that suddenly fulled her lungs when she turned to face the smirking face of Brian Derks, the ever so popular class clown' Gulping back the postponed scream she glared at the sandy haired boy indignantly. "Go away" she said, in a voice far firmer than she felt, pushing his hand from off of her shoulder. He cocked an eyebrow as if she were insane, "Where are you in such a hurry to go?" he asked with what she portrayed as an evil smile, though she thought it just made him look sick. She kept her glare level although her hands were starting to shake as she backed up, only to find herself against a wall. Kids were crowding past them as if they hadn't a care in the world what was happening, and really they didn't.

"You know, you're far too gorgeous to be alone all the time, you should hang out with us." he said. His voice resembled that of a cat's purr. The sound made Andy feel sick to her stomach. Still she didn't say anything. Brian grinned at her haughtily, seeing that she was shaking slightly. Andy was about to break down as he stood there, blocking her path, and would of if suddenly it hadn't been as if Brian was flying through the air to the side. This time, Andy did scream as in a flash- someone pushed the large boy aside and growled menacingly. The boy now standing there, pinning Brian against the wall as he had been doing to Andy just moments ago had appeared so suddenly she hadn't had time to see who it was, but as she saw now it was indeed the dark haired guy from her history class- the one she had presumed wasn't here today, Nate. Her eyes widened as she stepped away a bit, still shaken. "Bug off Derks" Nate growled, pushing Brian away as if he weighed nothing. His green eyes flashed before he glanced over at Andy as if to make sure she was unharmed, but she was already wheeling around to sprint out of the school out into the sunshine. She didn't know what it had been that Brian had wanted, but she didn't want to find out. Nate looked to make sure Brian wasn't going to try anything else, seeing the other male slunk off and standing with his group of friends and giving him dagger looks. He just returned the look before stalking off like a wolf ready to attack if need be.

[What do you think?]

There were about four guys in the bus already, every single one of them wearing skinny jeans and colorfully worded shirts. The girls from her street were already seated, two sitting with the guys and the other two sitting up front together chattering noisily. Andy shuddered involuntarily and slowly walked down the bus aisle, creeping past the boys as far away as she could. A few of the teens gave her a strange look but then seemed to decide she was just another one of the wierdies and looked away. Andy sank down into one of the back seats, huddled herself against the bus window and watched as the bus began to lose her street in the back window.

Everyone seemed to know to give her space on the bus, because no one even dared to think about sitting in the seat next to her. Boys and girls crowded in as if they were being herded, giving each other slaps on the back and hugs. Andy watched them a bit curiously, but made sure no one noticed. Her heart was racing as she sat there, clutching her bag, and she was almost afraid it would just run out of her chest. But it was so darned loud in there.. she doubted anyone noticed. The bus ride took about ten minutes and by the time all of the others had filtered out and Andy felt safe enough to also exit, she only had a few minutes to find her class.

She half ran into the school, only to be stopped as she opened the doors and found hundreds...but what felt like thousands of other teenagers crowding the hallways. Loud laughs and stomps filled her ears, as bewildered looking freshmen huddled together in a pack, talking quietly to themselves. Andy was a sophomore, but it had been so long since she'd been in a high school that she felt just as overwhelmed as the freshies. She edged into the hall and, dodging other people with her eyes almost shut she raced around looking for her classroom.

She found the door after a little while, having math first. Gratefuly she opened the door and slipped inside. A shaggy haired blond boy looked up at her with what felt like a glare, and the others copied him. There were fifteen others in the class that she could see, mainly girls and guys that looked like the definition of rich. Andy looked at her feet nervously and slipped over to one of the empty desks in the back, wishing to be home right now. Her stomach was in knots as she sat there, waiting for class to start, and you wouldn't believe how relieved she was when a kind, older looking woman came in and introduced herself as Ms. Jenell. "Hello class, I hope you guys have had a great summer and I'm glad to have you back." She said cheerfuly. "I want to start off our day with just a quick intro of each of us. Nothing fancy, just your name and where you live."

Andy sighed softly, she should of expected this. She was horrible with speaking to just one person, let alone a class. They started off with the shaggy blonde who introduced himself as Brian Derks. It was obvious that he was the class ring leader, even from his small sentence because he drew all attention to himself by clearing his throat before he spoke. Andy put her arms on the desk and rested her chin on them, watching as the introduction got closer and closer to her turn.

Within minutes the girl next to her was talking, her bright blue eyes perfectly at ease as she combed through her perfect black hair before speaking. "I'm Rachael Verswins, I live in Oakslane sub-division." she said hautily, tossing her hair a bit before looking down. Andy noticed that almost every guy's eyes were glued to her as she spoke, and was glad to see that all but one looked away un-interestedly once she was finished. The less people to look at her the better. The teacher, Ms. Jenell looked over at her and nodded slightly, willing Andy to speak. Andy's fists clenched and when she spoke, her voice came out in a squeak. "I-" she started, her voice croaking. She blushed furiously and tried again. "I'm.. Andy Jackson." she stammered, almost groaning as she noticed that although most of the kids were no longer looking at her, a boy with dark brown hair and green eyes was staring intently at her from the seat diagnol from her. "I live in Bellshire County." There, it was done. She sighed and dropped her eyes, wishing to melt into the floor and disappear.

The rest of her teachers never asked for introductions, and she was grateful for that. But the brown haired boy, who's name had ended up being Nate was in one of her other classes and every now and then she felt his eyes on her. This made her extremely uncomfortable and scared, and she was glad when the school day let out at noon. Tomorrow she'd have to endure School for two hours more at least- but she was finished for now.

When she finally escaped the bus and ran home, she finally let a few tears of stress trail down her pale face. She'd done it...but just barely. When she unlocked the house and slipped in she went off to hole up in her room. At least neither of her parents were home for a while, she'd have some time to recover.

[What do you think?]

They'd moved away since then, her family had been here in Bellshire county for about a month now. So far 'Andy' as she was called had not yet ventured any farther than her driveway. She felt unsafe and scared where the world could see her, and in a group of people she often ended up freaking out. She didn't trust anyone, but especially not men. Even her father made her coward away in fear when he got too close, and he had all but given up on ever mending her trust in him.

That was why no one came tonight to check on her. Her two parents were used to the screams of the night that came from her room. They slept through it now days, they only checked on her if the screaming carried on for a long time. That rarely happened anyway- because her dream never got along far enough for her to see the man's face. He was always just a running blur behind her, she never knew who it was that had been chasing her.

Andy shuddered and laid her head back on her pillow, trying to let sleep come back to her. It would... it would just be a while. Sleep always did come after a while of laying there and calming down- and with it the dream.

Tomorrow held a new challenge, one largely frightening to the girl. School. She hadn't been in school since the accident, she'd been in different mental institutes all around, shipped around like an animal. The idea of being crowded in by hundreds of people scared her to death, and she wasn't sure she could handle it. Her parents assured her that it would be ok, but she didn't really believe them for a second. They didn't know what she'd been through.

Ten minutes until it was time to leave, and Andy felt as if she were about to die. Her mother had tried to get her to eat breakfast, but the girl had refused. She was still sitting cross legged on her bed; her eyes closed and her hands shaking slightly. She shouldn't be so nervous...this was ridiculous. But the fact was that she /was/ this nervous, and there wasn't a single thing she could really do about it. She had no friend to help her through this, no one to talk to about her worries. Her blond, straight hair was whisked into a somewhat messy pony tail and her clothes were big on her. Wearing large clothes made her feel just a little bit less exposed to the world. A little more safe, but not much.

Her mother had tried talking her into wearing a bit of make-up, maybe wearing a body fitting tee instead of her faded jeans and sweat shirt. She'd just brushed her mother off, knowing that the woman was trying to help but not feeling helped at all. Five minutes. She heard a rap on her door just before her mom came in and sat down on the bed. "Andy, you need to do this." she said, in that quiet, almost ashamed way that she always used when talking to her daughter. Andy tucked her knees up against her and rested her chin on them. "I can't" she whispered, suddenly feeling like she was about to cry. Her mom just looked at her for a moment, then sighed. "You have no choice Andy. If you don't do this now you never will." Why, why did her mom have to be right?

Somehow, Andy found herself standing in front of the bus pickup location with a small group of girls off to the side. Thankfully it appeared that there were no males on her street that day that were going to be riding the bus. Another few minutes saved of torture. A few of the girls gave her curious gazes, their mascara covered lashed batting a few times as they peered at her, then lost int rest. They were all grouped together as if in a herd, so Andy just awkwardly stood off to the side until the bus came up.

The thing was noisy and covered with a layer of dust, she could see faces from the outside, at least ten others and more to come. Their street was one of the first to be picked up, so with any luck she could find a place to sit by herself. She gulped as the doors sighed, then opened. Without a moments hesitation the other girls crowded in, giggling and waving as people called to them. Andy eyed the big metal monster for a moment, but was almost instantly interrupted by the cranky looking bus driver as the woman snapped at her. "Are you coming or not?" she said crossly, shoving her nose in the direction of the back of the bus. Andy nodded and taking a large breath she shouldered the bag she had brought and marched up the steps into the bus.
