My
five year old brother has Cerebral Palsy. For those of
you who don't know what that is, it causes some people to
have a physical disability. In my brother's care, he needs
braces on his legs because he doesn't walk
right. If he doesn't have his braces, it hurts him to walk.
Him being a five year old and in that "growing stage"
he out grew his braces. He couldn't wear them.
Our family went to a mall yesterday, so we put my brother in a
stroller so my mom didn't have to carry him since he's
starting to get heavy. We decided to go into the Nike store. I
held open the door for my mom to push my brother's stroller
in, and a man walked in following them. As he walked in, he
turned to me and said, "He's a little big to be in a
stroller. Don't you think?"
I
was shocked that he said that. I just stood there with my mouth
wide open. My mother heard him and turned around and said
"He has a disability. He can't walk."
The man responded with, "I said it to her (pointing to me)
not you. Besides, it looks like he's fine." and
continued to tell my mother that he looks fine. My mother then
told him that he was ignorant and should have had the balls to
say it to her. Not me.
I think that
people like his should be considered retarded. NOT people like my
brother.
