words do hurt
Prologue
My name is Christina Daleson, and I'm 15
years old.
I live in a two-story house that's covered in a white blanket
that is snow in a small neighborhood in Chicago, with my lovely
mother and not-so-lovely sister, Kelly.
Kelly has never cared for me, since she's always chosen to
ignore me at school, because apparently she has a reputation to
keep, and she can't keep hanging around the "little
people".
Who cares right, if she's going to shun me, I might as well
do the same.
I'm used to having to live without certain people in my life,
like my father, who is serving in the military right now
overseas.
I haven't heard from him in a year, and I miss him
terribly.
But I just have to realize that it's for the best, since
he's protecting our country and doing it out of the kindness
of his heart.
At least I have a best friend that helps me through this,
Maria.
We've been best friends since middle school, and we have
never kept secrets from each other.
Being the crazy teenagers we are, we just have to know what's
been going around the school, like the gossip and the rumors and
all that crazy stuff.
Maria persuaded me to make a Facebook account, and I've got
to say, it's a neat way to stalk the people I know from
school.
A certain quote has always been going on in my mind when I'm
on it; Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words
will never hurt me.
But that's a lie, because words do
hurt.
