It had seemed so real, but I just shook the thoughts from my head and reached over to grab my phone.. They told me every time that I was home alone to 'not burn the house down.' Despite their warnings, I almost had the first time I was left alone when I tried to make s'mores in the microwave in the middle of winter. (The graham cracker caught on fire) "Ha Ha." I laughed sarcastically, sitting up in bed and pushing the hair out of my face. "It's not even six am, what on earth do you want?" "Well, your father's company needs to spend some extra time here to have more meetings, so we'll be gone for another two weeks." I swear I just choked on air. "W-what?" "I'm sorry, I know that it's sudden, but you'll just have to survive without us." I gulped. "Alright, can I go now?" "Certainly." My father laughed again. I had no idea how they were so awake right now, probably the time difference or something. "Love you." I replied. "Bye." The moment they hung up, I let out a groan that probably woke the neighbors. I had absolutely no interest in going to school today but my parents would never let me skip. The school called your house to ask your parents if you were actually sick, and without parents, I would be screwed. Just like I would be going to school. Fun. Comment for a Reminder! If it wasn't for me, wanting to play basketball with her, she wouldn't be going through this. It was already four days, and she hasn't woken up. On the fifth day, I saw her eyes gently open. "Kelsey?" I called. She wasn't quite awake yet. Suddenly, doctors came rushing in, telling me I had to wait outside. I did, for a few hours. One of the doctors finally came out saying, "I understand that you're Kelsey's friend, Aaron?" "Yes," I whispered. He bit his lip. "She woke up, she's fine, but I'm afraid she has long term memory loss." "Are you serious?" I almost shouted. "I'm afraid so." I didn't meet his gaze. I couldn't. I wasn't going to say anything, so he spoke again. "You can go see her if you want, but she doesn't remember anything, not even her mom." I walked in, trembling in horror. I saw her. She looked helpless as she slept. I waited a few hours, until I saw her eyes opening gently again. I expected doctors to run in, rushing me out. Instead, she looked me straight in the eyes, and whispered, "I don't know you, but I like your eyes."
