And now it's ten year later and punk is considered "emo crap"

Today I was spending my freeblock with my friend Max.
He asked to listen to the music on my ipod and I can listen to his.
So I did.
He was going through and said "What is this music?"
I said "it's punk rock."
He said "It's sounds emo. Are you emo, Charlie?" and laughed.
I said "Man, punk is good music."
He kept laughing. "Do you wear eyeliner and cry yourself to sleep? Do you cut yourself?"
All I said was "Why would you assume that from the music I listen to?"
He said "pull up your sleeve or I'll call you a cutter."
So I pulled up my right sleeve and he said "Nope. Left one too. Are you hiding something, Charlie?"
He was clearly joking around but then quickly pulled up my left sleeve and you could still see my scars from when I cut.
Clearly.
Then it got awkward.
So I just took my ipod back and went to the weight room.
Why did this happen again?
